Peace Corps Kyrgyzstan: no strings attached

Monday, December 1, 2014. You Can Have This Money, Just One (Thousand) Condition(s). You must give it all away. Standing with two trainers and a participant from the Youth Committee Training. The lower the percentage, the higher the likelihood I would donate. There is this mentality when giving money- we want the money to go toward the project, not into the pockets of those running the project. We don’t want our money going into the pockets of Bubumairam and Guljash…right? Wrong Of course I do! Great ref...

Peace Corps Kyrgyzstan: Тынч Means Peace, it also means Quiet
http://seanincentralasia.blogspot.com/2014/07/means-peace-it-also-means-quiet.html
Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Тынч Means Peace, it also means Quiet. Read on to hear the struggle of this fool. Is the Kyrgyz word for peace. It also means quiet. I am a fan of peace, but in this instant I cannot be quiet. Too many hearts are screaming inside bodies with mouths sewn closed. You may not hear the noise, but quiet it is not. Why is bride kidnapping so harmful? Is it really much worse than arranged marriages? Isn’t it just a different cultural understanding? It may seem irrational, but men suffe...

Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Projects to Start Strong this New Year. The New Year, is coming. My host niece Ossil (some contend her name is spelled Asel in Latin script, but it sounds like Fossil without the F so I submit my way is better, you be the judge) and I prepared for the momentous occasion by making origami decorations and various other crafts all day long. We’ll pick up where we started tomorrow, also we’re going to make ribbon cookies. Ossil decorating some snowmen. This is our latest logo.

My host mom was worried when she saw me taking this picture. She asked me if I thought it was a bad outhouse, I responded that I like it, which is the truth. This is the view from the toilet of my house and the backyard. You can see my host niece swinging on the tire swing under the tree on the left. Morning in the Village.

Grandma Cookies Family Mexican Riviera Cruise. We just got back from the most amazing, relaxing, family filled vacation! We got the most amazing opportunity to go on a cruise with Eric's family! We had the chance to get to know a lot of Eric's family that I never had. We spent 7 days on the Carnival Splendor Cruise. Day 1: Fun day at Sea, we just relaxed, layed out by the pool, started eating food ( it seems like it never stopped. And I got 2 really pretty salsa bowls! It was miserable. Day 4: Puerto...

Tuesday, May 3, 2011. The little dude is 6 months! This little (well not so little) dude is 6 months old. I cannot believe that six months has already gone by. It has flown. Wes is such a sweet baby. He is really easy going and just smiles all day long. He is starting to sit up. But after a little while he usually ends up doing this. And then he falls over. Which really irritates him. He likes to be able to sit up because then he can see what Anna is doing at all times. :). We recently took Wes to the do...

The Davis Family
Wednesday, November 7, 2012. This year Halloween was quite the costume fest for us! We did a Star Wars theme and it was so fun. Eric was Darth Vadar, I was padme, and Jude was Luke Skywalker. He was the cutest little Jedi around. We had a fun cousin party, trick-or-treated, trunk-or-treated, passed out candy, and ate tons of cinnamon bun popcorn. This Halloween was definitely a fun one. Sunday, September 9, 2012. Since its been over a year Jude has just celebrated his 1st birthday! He's 30.5 in tall,...

He mostly played left forward and scored his first goal last week and it was the winning point! Tuesday, November 1, 2011. Thursday, September 1, 2011.

Eric and Terrilynn Adoption
Wednesday, September 7, 2011. If you're reading our letter then you must be contemplating selecting someone to raise your child as their own. This must be very difficult for you; we try to understand and we truly respect you. While we have not faced the decision to place a child for adoption, we know of the intense feelings of love that exist between a mother, father and child. Nearly every job Terrilynn has had involved working with kids. She loves to interact with them, probably because she is simi...
