Change for the better! How Much Rest Between Sets? How Much Rest Between Sets? February 3, 2011. When I was new to resistance training I knew the more I rested = the more I could lift so I rested more. My father hired a personal trainer for me while I was in High School and he taught me the complete opposite; less rest, less weight = bigger results. I prefer the feel of some good old dumbells but adding some variety can be benefical. Also, these are great for those who do not want to join a gym, have an hour lunch break, or on a limited buget. I have listed some other benefits. Using a band requires coordination and balance so you end up utilizing more muscle groups to stabilize your body.
