Caddis Chronicles: Beaverkill River Report
http://www.caddischronicles.com/2015/05/beaverkill-river-report.html
A celebration of the well-chewed fly. Saturday, May 9, 2015. It was a wonderful evening to be on the river, and although I expected to see many more rising fish with all those bugs coming off, I had a great time. Half of me was immersed in a cool, clear river that was teaming with life, and my other half was soaking up the sights and sounds that can only be found among a free-flowing mountain stream on a warm spring evening. Fishing is my Ecstasy. Tuesday, March 15, 2011. MidWest Fly Fishing Expo 2011 - ORGASMIC! Number 1, there's another coming). Ahwhere to begin, I have so much in my head that it is just exploding! It was the greatest abundance of fly fishing knowledge, experience, and addicts I have ever encountered all in one gathering. Okay, so I was also a virgin Fly Fishing EXPO. Attender, which I can now no longer say. Since I have no means of comparison, the bar has been set pretty high because of this experience.

Scrappy fish / scrappy streams. Links & Resources. Klinkhammer hooks update – Demmon DGE 300BL →. Early spring lake fishing, chironomid pupae, beadhead raspberry midge. May 5, 2015. With slow hand-twist retrieve. A useful skill, first learned at age 12 for fishing crappie with wet flies on Mauthe Lake near my childhood home in Wisconsin). Takes were solid, nothing subtle about it – tight line / bent rod before registering that the indicator was gone. Fish were smashing these, not merely sipping. Abdomen:...

Caddis Chronicles: April 2015
http://www.caddischronicles.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
A celebration of the well-chewed fly. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. A Tale of Three Rivers. My next stop was the South Branch, where I found lots of anglers, plenty of bugs and trout rising to them. I went to a spot that was off the beaten path and fished for a bit, caught a couple and then spent the next hour or so checking out different spots on the river to see what was happening before calling it a day. I didn't know this until Sunday when I sat down in a patch of them to watch Paul fish, and I noticed th...

Double Haul Flyfishing: March 2011
http://doublehaulflyfishing.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
The Underbelly of Fly Fishing. Show us your Double Haul. Thursday, March 31, 2011. The Ides of March. And 60 other co-conspirators. It is now the last day of March and I'm glad that it's over, but is it? Sure, it would have been nice to have had a more productive winter/spring, but sometimes it just goes that way. It can make for a great story come the end of the year. Also, this year, I have been slowly getting my old tenor sax player out on the water more. Erik Schroeder has been to a few fly fishi...
