Living it up in Kazakhstan! It’s difficult for me to know what is interesting to hear about. I have grown so accustomed to everything that I might not realize what would seem strange or different. I know that my friends in the north of Kazakhstan have been wearing their long johns for some time already, but compared to Texas being cold in September is bizarre. Where to start…. my host family had a gathering at our house in memory of the grandfather that passed away 20 years ago. Like any family reunion lots of food was prepared and the special dishes were brought out. My host mom, Myra, making the noodles for Besbarmak. Host father and brother. Yup, that's what we call traditional in Kazakhstan! We can't wait! Moving in with host families. Yay host cousins! Peter, Yunmi and I.

My host dad did say the food was good, which was nice. For dinner I made pasta. It was all we had the ingredients for. I did make a damn good sauce though! If only we had an oven. Tuesday, December 20, 2011. Christmas came a little early for me this year. last week my mom told me that i need to get a passport cuz i am going to. AFRICA! I can't even begin to tell you how excited i am!
