Cathlin cooks... but mostly bakes!: Zwetschgenknödel or Plum Dumplings
http://cathlincooks.blogspot.com/2009/10/zwetschgenknodel-or-plum-dumplings.html
October 21, 2009. Zwetschgenknödel or Plum Dumplings. We began by making the dough, which is very simple - flour, eggs, butter and Quark cheese. We mixed the ingredients together by hand until they come together into a nice soft, sticky ball. The dough had to be cooled for an hour after that. While the dough was in the fridge, we worked on our plums. and our apricots. That's a variation Anders' family loves to do. Next, we replaced the stone with a sugar cube. And this is the final and most important ste...

Cathlin cooks... but mostly bakes!: June 2010
http://cathlincooks.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
June 01, 2010. Like most cakes, you begin with the dry ingredients. And then mix together the wet ingredients, along with the sugar. And beat it up. And beat it up again, until it becomes fluffy and pale yellow. Then add some vanilla and mix it gently. The other liquid this recipe calls for is buttermilk, but you can achieve the same effect as buttermilk by mixing milk with vinegar, which is what I did here. And so you have three bowls of different ingredients. 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour. 189; teaspoon s...

Cathlin cooks... but mostly bakes!: August 2009
http://cathlincooks.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
August 18, 2009. Guacamole and Home-made Flour Tortilla Chips. Ugh I have. So I decided to take that recipe for soft tortillas I had made before and make them into chips! That's right, folks. This post is a twofer! Guacamole and tortilla chips ho! I started with the tortilla chips first, because the dough needs time to rest in between steps. I started with some flour, baking powder, salt and canola oil. I added some warm milk. After 20 minutes, I split the dough into four more or less equal parts. Each t...

Cathlin cooks... but mostly bakes!: Wilton Course 1 Class 2
http://cathlincooks.blogspot.com/2009/08/wilton-course-1-class-2.html
August 14, 2009. Wilton Course 1 Class 2. Last night I had my second Wilton class in which we decorated our cakes with the Wilton rainbow! On Wednesday night I baked my cake. Now, I did two things I don't normally do. I used a mix and I wet a dish towel and wrapped it around the pan to make it bake more evenly. I don't like that mixes call for so many eggs. Three? Anyway, yesterday I spent a tonne of time making different frostings and then frosting the darned cake. It turned out pretty well! When I got ...

Cathlin cooks... but mostly bakes!: essen, fressen, nicht vergessen...
http://cathlincooks.blogspot.com/2008/04/essen-fressen-nicht-vergessen.html
April 19, 2008. Essen, fressen, nicht vergessen. I love cooking, and I love baking. I love doing both these things for other people. My boyfriend is a distance runner and eats a lot, so I always have someone to test new things out on. Plus, I love to eat, so that helps, too! This is why I've decided to make a food blog. I plan to chronicle the new things I cook or bake, as well as my old favourites. I've since changed the name to Cathlin cooks. and bakes! Enjoy, and guten Appetit! May 3, 2014 at 11:35 PM.
