A blog about wargaming from a former resident of Essex. Living away from the county, but with gaming roots still there. Monday, 29 November 2010. Most of the time I would have spent painting or gaming in the last week or so have been taken up by building out the new club website over at SSWG.co.uk. The front page is basically a simple blog, so keep your eyes out for plenty of updates. Behind this we have a new forum and gallery. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

The Bits Box: Not just a flash in the pan
http://thebitsbox.blogspot.com/2010/03/not-just-flash-in-pan.html
The project log of a wargames butterfly. Saturday, 20 March 2010. Not just a flash in the pan. Over the last few weeks we have been trying out Warlord Games. Rules for the Horse and Musket period. We've played three ACW. Has 'fun'. This is very much how we like to play and so to have the rules actively encourage it is a very refreshing and welcome addition. Pictures are courtesy of my clubmate Simon. See his blog here. For write ups and pictures of some of our games. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Southend-on-Sea Wargames Group. Jacobite Rebellion using Black Powder. Second week of a bit Jacobite Rebellion game finished last night. This was played using the Black Powder rules. Excellent fun was had and the game was balanced on a knife edge right up to the end and it really could have swung either way! Anyway, here are a few shots courtesy of EssexWargamer (that's me :-D). Full album can be seen here:. Jacobite Rebellion - 1745. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Southend-on-Sea Wargames Group. So it's week two of our Apocalypse 40k game and the Tyranids have finally reached the guard lines. The Valkyries swoop in to deal death and destruction, dropping several squads of stormtroopers. Things don't go well though and two Valkyries are quickly brought down by leaping Carnifexes! Who then burst through the guard line. To the right of this action, Commissar Yarrick and his Ogryns face down the horde. But Yarrick and his Ogryns fight on. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

A blog about wargaming from a former resident of Essex. Living away from the county, but with gaming roots still there. Sunday, 23 October 2016. 5 months on - and back to some gaming (part 2). A blast from the past. Picking up where I left off last weekend, I thought I would start with a quick trip back to one of the old gaming weekends we held at SSWG. After the demo game of Bolt Action and meeting Lance, who is directing the Pegasus Bridge movie. Anyway - UP THE OX and BUCKS! Storming a factory building.
