FlaxandFleece weaving blog: October 2013
http://flaxandfleece.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, 13 October 2013. Tying on linen and wool warp, and sampling! I tied the linen and wool warp onto the wool one, weaving a strip of plain weave first to keep all the ends in order and make them easier to find. It worked very well, I had no crossed ends doing it this way, and it was quite quick to do. This is a huck tie up but I'll only be using plain weave in a very open sett for this. This is the second scarf on the striped warp, I used the same lycra yarn in the weft at intervals of about an inch...
FlaxandFleece weaving blog: huck scarves
http://flaxandfleece.blogspot.com/2013/09/huck-scarves.html
Monday, 23 September 2013. I once did a completely different style of huck scarf and someone told me it was not true huck - this is probably even less true huck, but I was aiming at honeycomb anyway. I'm not a purist! This is a close-up - the 'cells' are outlined with a heavy black yarn which adds a bit of texture. 25 September 2013 at 07:59. Are you sure its tracking? It looks to me more like creasing during the wet finishing. Try wetting it again and see if it comes out. Tracking happens more i...I sti...
FlaxandFleece weaving blog: November 2011
http://flaxandfleece.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, 24 November 2011. These are all using a basic tie-up, to see what variety you can do without having to crawl under the loom. I've avoided all the very strong zigzag motifs. I like the diagonal stripe in the orange, which comes out as a very plain weave on the back. Next time I'll definitely move on to something new. Saturday, 19 November 2011. Pebble twill and others. And this is the original dog tooth check I started with. After I'd pressed it I gave it a bit of a brush with a clothes brus...

Life Looms Large: Wake Up Call
http://lifeloomslarge.blogspot.com/2012/02/wake-up-call.html
Thursday, February 9, 2012. Yesterday morning, when I was walking down the stairs, I noticed a weird brown thing in our yard. I can't believe it was a fox! Shaking his head, just like Bailey does. Gotta stretch those back legs too. Ready for the day. It was 18° F (-8° C) while we watched the fox. I would never have guessed that a fox would sleep out in the open like that. We watched from slightly before 7 am until about 7:10. The sun was up the whole time. On New Year's Day, Acorn to Oak. February 9, 201...
Life Looms Large: Green Banana Silk
http://lifeloomslarge.blogspot.com/2012/02/green-banana-silk.html
Saturday, February 11, 2012. Feel excited about this yarn and about doing a quick project that's for me. I loved receiving this yarn as an unexpected gift, and wanted to complete this project before the next time I see the giver. I wanted to get back into a satisfying creative routine. A weaving buddy gave me this yarn at a spring weavers guild meeting. I was so touched. I don't get surprises very often! Especially not pleasant yarn surprises! What I liked about this project:. Needles: US 10 3/4. Who wou...
Life Looms Large: April 2011
http://lifeloomslarge.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 7, 2011. Florida in 12 Pictures. Mansion at the Ringling Museum. Who knew that 5 sons of German immigrants could build their fortune by creating a circus empire from the 1870 - 1929? Myakka Canopy Walkway at Myakka River State Park. I was a little scared of this walkway. Once I saw it was so sturdy, I gave it a try. It was great! At the end of the bridge, you can descend a stairway, or climb up more stairs to a tower above the canopy where you can see for miles. Manatee at Manatee Park.

Tisdag 2 september 2014.

One of those days. March 23, 2010 in Uncategorized. I’m beginning to lose my optimism, joy and randomness bit by bit. I’m becoming so realistic i scare myself. Today’s one of those neutral days where i don’t feel happy, neither am i sad. If this is what growing up means, then i never want to grow up. March 5, 2010 in Uncategorized. Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim. In the light of His glory and grace. And the missing kicks in.
