TOTD: Why?!? | eventing life
https://justjump3day.wordpress.com/2015/04/14/totd-why
April 14, 2015. Yesterday, I got my daily Tack of the Day email with a listing for Noble Outfitter tops. I LOVE Noble Outfitter, so I headed to TOTD to check out the goods. Sure enough, they had the 1/4 mock turtleneck show tops as well as the long sleeve mock necks, so I clicked the link. To my surprise, the short-sleeved tops were listed at $6.99! I, and one of my boarders, instantly snatched at that deal before they ran out of inventory. Dear TOTD shopper,. Manager Tack of the Day. You are commenting ...
This week’s gymnastic exercise | eventing life
https://justjump3day.wordpress.com/2015/01/14/this-weeks-gymnastic-exercise
High Heart Equestrian Center. Training the Event Horse. This week’s gymnastic exercise. January 14, 2015. Finally, to test the horse’s accuracy, I’ve added a skinny double bounce line. The distances between the fences on this line are a standard 10′. So if your horse can easily compress and lengthen his stride, tackle the skinny bounces to really test your ability to adjust your horse and keep him focused on the line! Time to blog share! Middot; January 23, 2015. What a great exercise! I should probably ...

The story of the two nuisances. December 8, 2014. My sporadic blogging leaves me wondering whether or not I introduced you to the High Heart resident nuisances. When I took over the barn, I inherited some chickens, a 3-legged coon hound, and two cats. I’ve told you my disastrous attempt at raising chickens, but have I told you the story behind the goats? Not the most efficient way, but I got milk! There are many goats like her, but this one is mine. She climbs on EVERYTHING. December 4, 2014. Lease a far...
DIY Project: Blanket hangers | eventing life
https://justjump3day.wordpress.com/2015/02/24/diy-project-blanket-hangers
High Heart Equestrian Center. DIY Project: Blanket hangers. February 24, 2015. In my barn, we hang stall chains on the stall fronts for blankets instead of using blanket bars. Blanket bars stick out in the aisleway waiting to catch horse’s hips (or your elbows) as they walk by. Plus, they’re expensive when you start talking quantities. Then again, the stall chains aren’t so cheap, either at an average price of $15.95 each. On the plus side, they come in colors! Vinyl-coated cable is cheap. A blanket hold...
The funny farm | eventing life
https://justjump3day.wordpress.com/2014/12/04/the-funny-farm
High Heart Equestrian Center. December 4, 2014. Lease a farm, they said. It’ll be great, they said. It’s a 30 acre farm with fencing and horses…what could possibly go wrong? Remember the Chevy Chase movie from the 1980’s where the author and his wife moved into what they thought was a spectacular farm only to discover it was a disaster waiting to happen? It’s kinda like that. She looks innocent, but like the velociraptors in Jurassic Park, she’s just testing the fence for weak spots. I grabbed two armful...
A day in the life | eventing life
https://justjump3day.wordpress.com/2014/12/09/a-day-in-the-life
High Heart Equestrian Center. A day in the life. December 9, 2014. Pictures speak a thousand words, right? I snapped a few pics throughout my morning to help share my story. I clean stalls. Every day. My life is all about poop. My chickens don’t help me scoop poop, but they talk to me. I get lonely sometimes. I watch my goats do weird things like stand under my truck. I go stand in the pastures and just watch ponies when I have time. I love this place. Coaching from the ground. Time to blog share! This k...

Time to blog share! | eventing life
https://justjump3day.wordpress.com/2014/12/18/time-to-blog-share
Time to blog share! December 18, 2014. As an equestrian professional, I struggle with keeping my, ahem, “act” together quite often. As we’re all aware, things don’t always go according to plan, so when the ‘you know what’ hits the fan, what do YOU do? A good friend of mine is a Sports Psychology Consultant. No, she can’t magically help you transform those goose eggs into perfect twenty meter circles, but she. Help you see through the fog so you remember to use that sneaky inside leg into the outside rein!
More gymnastics! | eventing life

High Heart Equestrian Center. Training the Event Horse. February 10, 2015. Show season has arrived here in the winter Eventing capital of the world. Aiken is hustling and bustling, and now that I’ve got a few horses to prepare for the season, it’s gymnastics season, full-on, here at High Heart! Watch the videos of the wide oxer bounce and then the 3 of them together to see how it all rides. This week’s gymnastic exercise. DIY Project: Blanket hangers. Middot; February 10, 2015. What makes an equestrian a professional? | eventing life
https://justjump3day.wordpress.com/2014/10/21/what-makes-an-equestrian-a-professional
What makes an equestrian a professional? October 21, 2014. More specifically, what makes a professional riding instructor? And, how do I choose the right one? Let’s begin with what determines an equestrian to be a professional. Webster’s Dictionary defines professionalism as the skill, good judgment, and polite behavior that is expected from a person who is trained to do a job well. So how do you choose, then? How, do you, the unsuspecting potential client, choose with whom to ride? Do the horses appear ...
