Energy drink | 2wheeltrails
https://2wheeltrails.wordpress.com/nutrition/energy-drink
My diary of biking. It took a bit of trial and error to come up with an energy drink that tastes good and works well for my GI. The basic energy powder mixture is this:. If not adding additional sugar later, use only 2 packs of Koolaid, unless you like it sour. Pour ingredients into a big container and shake for a while. For a 700 ml bottle, use 2-3 scoops (50 – 75 g) for 190-280 cal. Add 2-3 tablespoons (120-180 cal) of Karo corn syrup, and fill up with water. The first thing I tried was fructose. F...

My diary of biking. Chilcotin Bikepacking Adventure Day 1. Chilcotin Bikepacking Adventure Day 3 →. Chilcotin Bikepacking Adventure Day 2. July 29, 2015. Our route for the day is highlighted below – we rode all of 17 miles in 12 hours. Elevation gain was just under 3000 ft. These are statistics that don’t matter here. Experiences and enjoying ourselves did – as well as crossing creeks, staying safe, and figuring out which way to go along the secondary trails and routes. The map showed us several options ...

My diary of biking. Newer posts →. Jolly Esmeralda, No. 4. August 1, 2016. The fourth year in a row to ride this loop. But it’s different every time. First year, I rode it alone and the downhill trails from Jolly Mountain and Esmeralda Peaks were mere goat paths. Second year, rode it with a guy from Seattle who knew all about rocks – and found a most impressive rock with a fossil imprint at the top(! The bikes were sunning themselves:. The Alpine Lakes Wilderness is stretching out before us to the west, ...

Disk brakes | 2wheeltrails
https://2wheeltrails.wordpress.com/mechanical/disk-brakes
My diary of biking. There seem to be some misconceptions floating around on the web about whether large disc rotors are inherently less safe than smaller rotors. The concern is that a large rotor applies a larger torque than a small rotor and hence may shear off the brake calipers. When you are locking the wheel with a large rotor, the maximum torque that you can apply will be exactly the same as when you are locking the wheel with a small rotor. Why? And on the radius of the wheel. October 29, 2016.

My diary of biking. Chilcotin Bikepacking Adventure – Day 0. Chilcotin Bikepacking Adventure Day 2 →. Chilcotin Bikepacking Adventure Day 1. July 28, 2015. After a good breakfast and coordinating the logistics of our return with Joan, we were just about ready to head out. One last look at the map and with that we left the campground at 10 am. Not a particularly early start, but a small price to pay for not having loose ends and keeping everyone happy. We then rode up the quiet Tyaughton Lake Rd, Mud Cree...

My diary of biking. Chilcotin Bikepacking Adventure Day 2. Chilcotin Bikepacking Adventure →. Chilcotin Bikepacking Adventure Day 3. July 31, 2015. Morning came quietly; no rain, no storm. Lee stopped by to drop off my food bag. I dozed off again until the sun started to warm the tent surface and I was starting to get hungry. Extracted myself from the tent – and wow, look where we are! Our 3rd day route is highlighted in the map:. Day 3: 41 miles, 3700 ft. elevation. The trail goes up pretty steep –...
