Eskelinen can be seen as too focused on the game play aspect of games such that he fails to notice or ignore the importance of narratives which at times provide the framework for many games. For instance, it provides the games with a purpose and background setting which is to provide an encapsulating experience for the player. Thus, I feel that Eskelinen’s approach is rather wrong.
