http://backpacksandlunchboxes.blogspot.com/2011/03/whats-in-name.html
Backpacks and Lunch Boxes. Tuesday, March 1, 2011. What's in a Name? The other day, L and M decided to offer up some suggestions for the baby's name. If we go with any of these choices, it looks like we'll end up with a flower child or a nerd. L's Suggestions: Rainbow, Unicorn, Purple, Polka Dot, or Baby. M's Suggestions: Skywalker, Yoda, Chewie, Jedi, or Darth Maul. Unicorns and other Magical Beasts. March 1, 2011 at 12:33 PM. I think Moonbeam Rainbow has a lovely ring to it :-D. Backpacks and Lunch Boxes. Thursday, March 3, 2011. My Kids, the LARPers. The other day, I overheard this interesting exchange between L and M. M to L: Let's play Star Wars, you be Qui Gon and I'll be Darth Maul. I'll use the lightsaber, you can use your unicorn. Grunting and swiping that results in L crying. M to L: Ok, Ok, You can be Darth Maul now. I'll be Obi Wan. L to M: NO! I'll be Darth Vader. You. Grunting and swiping that results in M stalking off angrily. Labels: Around the House. Finally, I co...

Backpacks and Lunch Boxes: The First Sleepover
http://backpacksandlunchboxes.blogspot.com/2011/04/first-sleepover.html
Backpacks and Lunch Boxes. Saturday, April 9, 2011. Last night, M had one of his little kindergarten friends over for a sleepover. It was loud, raucous, and a lot of fun. The highlight of the evening was giving the boys (and tagalong L) a couple of glow sticks and setting them loose out back after dark. Authentic, hand-crafted sign designed to keep girls out. The boys slept in the tent that we have in what should be our formal dining room. (Wait. You. Don't have a tent up in your. Labels: Around the House.

Backpacks and Lunch Boxes: November 2010
http://backpacksandlunchboxes.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Backpacks and Lunch Boxes. Saturday, November 27, 2010. Lions, Tigers, and Ligers, Oh My! Yesterday we visited T. In Rockwell, NC. In addition to seeing a variety of tigers, a slew of lions, and even some Syrian Brown Bears, we had a chance to see two ligers! Lil' Wayne was totally sizing us up. Two tasty morsels looking like delicacies in front of Lil' Wayne. Lauren, the Liger Whisperer. The pacing lasted several minutes. Other zoo visitors captured it on film too. Thanks for the fun, Tiger World! In a ...

Backpacks and Lunch Boxes: September 2010
http://backpacksandlunchboxes.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Backpacks and Lunch Boxes. Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Today is Steve's birthday. In honor of his special day, I got it in my head to make him a 14-layer cake. I read this post. Using fat-free sour cream and Eggbeaters was the only way I could make this recipe even remotely healthy, though I'm not sure it qualifies as healthy. If anything, the sour cream and Eggbeaters make it only slightly less heart-attack inducing. Action shot of a cake baking! This is the frosting step. Right now there's only bu...

Backpacks and Lunch Boxes: October 2010
http://backpacksandlunchboxes.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Backpacks and Lunch Boxes. Saturday, October 23, 2010. Thankfully we remembered to pack ponchos, because the game started out with a brisk rainfall - so much so that the crew had to cover the field for a brief bit. We bravely struggled through it and managed to eat our nachos just the same. Though our seats were rather high, I think I managed to get some good pictures. Welcome to the World Series, Rangers! You guys are a class act team. The Yankees intentionally walked Hamilton every time he was at bat.

Backpacks and Lunch Boxes: January 2011
http://backpacksandlunchboxes.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Backpacks and Lunch Boxes. Wednesday, January 19, 2011. I'm not sure we signed up for this. I read this post. Not really. In a perfect world, the other parent would be a parent in the true sense and take care of the offending child's behavior and we could broker a peace deal over coffee and juice boxes. Alas, playground politics don't usually work out that way. Right now, M is having some trouble with a. M- - - 's mom). Matthew is number 13. Go Spurs! Tuesday, January 18, 2011.
