Exploring the Southwest

And finding it all. Sunday, August 30, 2009. Thanks for this one Doug. He makes some good points. Wednesday, August 26, 2009. I needed a laugh and who better to supply that then Jim Gaffigan. Many of you have seen this clip but can we ever really get sick of bacon? Not only is this a classic Heywood Banks song but this is done by a school in Wisconsin. I'm sure glad the cheeseheads. Have nothing better to do during the winter. Tuesday, August 25, 2009. So what social styles am I? Luckily, I apparently.

Exploring the Southwest: February 2009

http://www.exploringthesouthwest.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

And finding it all. Monday, February 23, 2009. On the way back from Arches we came across an accident. So of coarse I had to get pictures. The semi isn't looking to hot. Here is one of the cars. This is the worst of the two cars. Arch's National Park via Monument Valley. The wonder of Monument Valley! Saturday, February 21, 2009. Moms First Grand Canyon Trip. My mom came to visit me for the first time ever since I moved to NM. Our first stop was the Grand Canyon, and boy is it ever grand! After some grea...

Exploring the Southwest: Camping in August

http://www.exploringthesouthwest.blogspot.com/2009/08/camping-in-august.html

And finding it all. Tuesday, August 25, 2009. A couple of weeks ago I went camping with some coworkers and friends. We all had a good time and it was great to get away for the weekend. Here's part of the group that was there. Between the everyone in their 50's and everyone in their 20's the average age around the campfire was about 40. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Exploring the Southwest: November 2008

http://www.exploringthesouthwest.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

And finding it all. Monday, November 24, 2008. While back in the Midwest I made a trip to Wisconsin to visit a good friend of mine. We decided that we would make a batch of beer. It's something we did often in college and use to have a good time doing it. Oh coarse this beer won't be ready to drink for a couple of months so we had to enjoy some other varieties. Wednesday, November 19, 2008. An older coworker thought I should try out his glasses. I think I look pretty good! Saturday, November 15, 2008.

And finding it all. Monday, December 29, 2008. I thought this was an interesting article, click HERE. The comments are even better. I better get the rest of my stuff from my parents because pretty soon I'll have to cross country lines to get there. I hope I don't have to get another passport. I don't think I could wait that long and I better start learning Spanish. Saturday, December 27, 2008. Mom redeemed herself. She did wrap my gifts. So here they are displayed under my sweet tree. The Bowtie Professor: November 2010

http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Investing today for tenure later. Wednesday, November 24, 2010. New social media is dead; the internet is dead. Not too long ago, a friend of mine commented on how blogging and facebook are dead. Rather than updating this blog or my facebook status, I can now be found theorizing about human behavior and eating sardines in my coat closet. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Modern day old style. The Bowtie Professor: October 2010

http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Investing today for tenure later. Wednesday, October 6, 2010. Everyone remembers their mom telling them to not stare at somebody. Maybe it was the kid in the wheelchair, the lady who had suffered a stroke, or maybe some really creepy homeless dude. Alternatively, I don't have the facial aversion problem with most non-aggressive looking men. I generally try to smile at people, but find myself more often than not, simply looking down or away. It just seems easier. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Bowtie Professor: April 2011

http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Investing today for tenure later. Tuesday, April 12, 2011. I am starting to learn from others. Sounds funny, but I never really got that before. Usually, I would only learn by going through the experience. Thus I have had a lot of good (and bad) experiences. Gratefully I think that has all changed. Two major events stand out in my mind. Investing today for tenure later. Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Another story with a guilt theme. I work with the Environmental Studies Program and am affiliated with the Center for Sustainabilty, so I should be 'green,' right? Oh, yeah. Happy earth week. Monday, April 19, 2010. I listen to KPCC. All of the time. (I should have included this disclosure in the guilt post, but I am not a member and really should be.) One night I heard a story about a couple who lost their house to foreclosure. http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Investing today for tenure later. Sunday, January 16, 2011. SAD in effect - high school style. With my wife's acquisition of a puppy, a couple of weeks of rainy weather, and an overwhelming amount of work that I'm not finishing, I have fallen into a funk. Luckily, I am teaching an undergrad class that permits me a little instant gratification. If it weren't for that class, I would really be down. Normally, I wouldn't have this attitude, but I'm ready to be done with this winter. Friday, January 14, 2011.

Investing today for tenure later. Saturday, February 19, 2011. It finally happened, I brought home an older woman. Dearest followers, may I introduce you to my 37 year old Bavarian queen. Her interests include the open road, sunny days, the twisties, and a little throttle now and then. She's got some pretty big jugs (450 CCs on each side) that hang low and straight out to the side. I have a wide seat, she has a wide seat. It does make her a little curvy, but who doesn't like a little curve? Inexperienced...

Investing today for tenure later. Sunday, January 31, 2010. The three months of Christmas. Saturday, January 30, 2010. My wife gave birth to our third child. A beautiful little girl, two days before Thanksgiving. She came out very small, 6lbs 14oz. Within a few weeks she didn't seem so small anymore. That didn't stop all of the fear associated with knowing that she completely depends on my wife for everything. Obviously I help out when I can, but I simply don't produce milk. Investing today for tenure later. Thursday, February 2, 2012. I have essentially given up on blogging. Yet, the facebook can't complete with blogging when you want to discuss something in more than a short post. So here goes everyone's favorite from math class. a word problem. I don't want to spend more than $22k on a car is we decide to not fix the Jeep. I have good credit, but am averse to going into a lot of debt to buy a tool just to get me to work. I didn't think that my opinion was important enough to you to change how you feel about yourself or others. My opinion shouldn't do that anyway. Nevertheless, I am sorry to have caused you discomfort. In a few weeks, I will change this to a private blog. Not that it matters. I rarely post and nobody really knows what I'm talking about anyway. New Blog: Daily Disciplines. On January 21, 2011. I’m not sure how many people still read this blog, if any, but I did say that if I didn’t start posting more either here or on a new blog within the first week of January, that you should all kick my ass. No one has kicked my ass, despite the fact that, if you read this blog, it will appear that I haven’t done so. However, I have started a new blog surrounding some of the things I discussed in my previous post. It’s called Daily Disciplines. More recently...
