After 4 month working in Germany during the so called "summer" we´re finally back in the US. This time we brought a lot more things over - with the camper we can store so much more stuff than before! Even the bicycles made their way, so now it´s not necessary to use the Pickup for every short way :). Today we´re driving to Ontario to get settled in the camper again. Then the car needs to be checked: Oil change, new tires - but we hope to start very fast to Mexico. Links zu diesem Post.

In La Paz angekommen beziehen wir Quartier im Campingbereich des unter Reisenden wohl bekannten "Hotel Oberland" - es ist der Knaller! Heiße Duschen, sauber gefliest und mit Glastüren versehen, Pool, Sauna - genau das Richtige, um sich nach den Tagen auf der Straße zu erholen. Wir erkunden La Paz ein bißchen zu Fuß - vom Hotel Oberland bringt einen der öffentliche Bus in 30 Minuten für 2,30 Bob in die Stadtmitte. Bolivien, Death Road Tour, 05.08.2012. Of heaven and hell. Mensch, Bea, wenn Du doch letzte Woche geahnt hättest, wie nah Du mit Deiner Beschreibung des Blogs in Kürze liegen würdest. Aber erstmal zurück - wir waren ja dank Streik und gesperrtem Andenpass erstmal in Cafayate hängengeblieben. Da der wirklich nette (und dazu noch günstige) Campingplatz "Luz y Fuerza" sogar über Wifi verfügt, konnten wir uns auf den offiziellen Seiten über den Zustand der Pässe informieren und entschieden uns, den Paso de San Francisco in Angriff zu nehmen.

Am 1110. sind wir nach Uruguay eingereist - eine der entspanntesten Grenzen überhaupt - in Minuten waren die Fahrzeugpapiere ausgestellt - theoretisch dürften Auto und Camper nun ein Jahr hierbleiben, aber bis zur Fahrzeugübergabe sind es nur mehr knapp vier Wochen. Das Wetter enttäuscht uns etwas, viel Wind, etwas zu kalt und immer wieder Regenschauer - wir wollten doch noch ein paar Wochen Strandurlaub machen! Nun ja - es ist hier grade Frühjahrsbeginn - es kann ja noch werden. Aber nicht nur die Hippi...

Ich bin wirklich schreibfaul geworden. nach ein paar Wochen in Mexiko fuhren wir Anfang November wieder in die USA nach Texas und haben von Galveston aus Pickup und Camper nach Iquique in Nordchile verschifft. Kurz vor Weihnachten durften wir dort unser etwas demoliertes Fahrzeug in Empfang nehmen - leider mit viel weniger Sachen an Bord als vor der Verschiffung - aber damit muss man wohl rechnen. Wir setzen unseren Weg nach Süden langsam fort - mit einem kleinen nordöstlichen Abstecher noch Rio de Janeiro ;). Das Pantanal war spannend - die Vielfalt der Tiere beeindruckend - nur viiiiel zu heiß war´s - fast 40 Grad jeden Tag und nachts kühlte es nicht deutlich ab. Nachdem ich jahrzehntelang Hitzejunkie war, hat sich das offensichtlich geändert. Momentaner Standort ist Paraty an der Costa Verde - der atlantische Regenwald wächst bis an die Küste und die Abkühlung tut gut!
