Tu B'Av, T'shuvah and Tying it Together: Ramping Up
http://faintich.blogspot.com/2009/09/ramping-up.html
Tu B'Av, T'shuvah and Tying it Together. Jewish Musings about daily life. Saturday, September 26, 2009. The days before Rosh HaShanah . everyone wishing me a Shanah Tovah. Asking, "So, are you ready for the holiday? Ummm No. Not really. Cooking for dinner-yes, ready for my guests. For the holidays, no. Never. High Holy Days, kinda not my thing. Sukkot-enjoy Sukkot. But ready for Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur. Nope. As a Jewish educator, I know that there are rituals that some people perform during Elul.

Tu B'Av, T'shuvah and Tying it Together. Jewish Musings about daily life. Tuesday, October 5, 2010. Being a Straight Ally. This week, we have been bombarded by injustices surrounding the LGBTQQI community. Multiple suicides of young adults who were bullied and outcast because of their personal identity. To help prevent this from happening again, celebrities have been recording messages. Are asking us to sign commitments. And then, The Jewish Standard (a Jewish newspaper in NJ) writes this:. A group of ra...

At the end of the first 30 days of mourning (a period called Shloshim), it us customary for a mourner to hold a Siyyum (a concluding ceremony) complete with a text study in memory of their loved one, a meal and prayer service. This signifies the transition into the next phase of mourning. Tzar Ba’alei Chayim – Ethical Treatment of Animals. Whether it is a bull,. A sheep or a goat.

Tu B'Av, T'shuvah and Tying it Together. Jewish Musings about daily life. Tuesday, February 9, 2010. So, in our attempt to evaluate how Jews should approach the day, we must first look at the historical account of Valentine's Day. [. Wwwpetalsnetwork.com/info/valentines.htm, www.homiliesbyemail.com/Special/Valentine/history.txt. It wasn't until a few hundred years later when Valentine's Day began to develop as we know it. At the time Christianity was beginning to take control of Europe. But what did we l...

Tu B'Av, T'shuvah and Tying it Together. Jewish Musings about daily life. Sunday, May 16, 2010. Cross Posted to: Davar Acher. One of my personal Jewish outlets is participating in Limmud Southeast Atlanta. As you may know Limmud. Is an international organization that represents a cross-communal approach to Jewish learning. It began in 1980 in the UK and now has about 35 all over the world. Limmud gives me a phenomenal multi-generational community amid which I have made some of my closest friends in Atlan...

Singularly Random: June 2010

Sunday, June 6, 2010. Spark" is a term that I hear often in relation to dating. In my experience, it's been used many times in relation to why I'm not getting a second date. As in: "You're a nice guy, but I just didn't feel a spark. We can be friends, but I don't think we should go out again.". But I don't think I can base a relationship's future solely on their existence or lack thereof. I don't think that sparks always develop immediately. Not to mention that it takes far more than a spark.

Monday, May 31, 2010. I'm good at making lists. I've got a lot of them. A "To Do" list, a wish list, a bucket list, a "bad habits to break" list.and more. They're not all written down, but they're at least in my head somewhere. Making them is easy. Executing them is more difficult. Really.I want to have fewer lists. Shorter lists. I need to do something about it. I need to make a step toward taking that grand adventure. Friday, May 21, 2010. Out With the New, In With the Old. A few years ago, I got into ...
Singularly Random: April 2012
http://singularlyrandom.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 22, 2012. My propensity and skill for procrastination are very well demonstrated and documented over the years. I continually tell myself that there will be time to do all these things and more down the road. Time to get in shape. Time to meet the woman of my dreams and start a family. Time to write that second novel. Time to learn to play guitar. Time to take improv classes. Time to learn to ballroom dance. I've failed at many, many things in my life. Fear of making a mistake? That may be ...

Thursday, April 22, 2010. The nature of auditions is that I turn all control of my fate over to other people. I'm not. Good at that. I'm a control freak. So doing this is good for me, right? If I want to be in shows, if I want to get that elusive supporting role that I've been pursuing for years (I don't seek the leading man role for the most part), the only thing to do is put myself out there and see what happens. But all the initial waiting? Tuesday, April 20, 2010. I'll deal with the title later.
Singularly Random: December 2011
http://singularlyrandom.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 30, 2011. I don't like new year's resolutions. Maybe it's me getting old and grumpy, maybe it's sheer semantics, but making resolutions just bugs me. I think that they're artificial in nature and somewhat forced upon us. I prefer to think about making decisions for my life, and not just at the end of December. Friday, December 23, 2011. On the other hand, one said that it ages me ten years. Another told me that it covers up my good looks (an interesting backhanded compliment, I suppo...

Friday, March 23, 2012. When I was in college I was never really a party animal or anything, but my Friday nights were definitely a time to be social. A coffee house, video games in someone's dorm room, out for pizza, an occasional. Addictive word game). I looked up and suddenly realized it was after 9:00. So I snuggled up with my computer and did some work on my taxes. What happened to me? College Josh would be so disappointed. Friday, March 9, 2012. Once Upon a Time. On television and Mirror Mirror.

Singularly Random: The Great Outdoors
http://singularlyrandom.blogspot.com/2012/05/great-outdoors.html
Saturday, May 5, 2012. As I've gotten older and out on my own, I've found myself getting a bit more settled in suburban life. It's good- I enjoy it for the most part. Everything is convenient and easy to get to. I can fall into a comfortable routine. As easy as it was, I still found myself a little bit.unsettled. May 7, 2012 at 9:17 AM. Im jealous of the camping though. Ive still never been. :-(. May 9, 2012 at 9:52 AM. May 9, 2012 at 2:17 PM. I wish you luck taking the boys out camping. I know itll ...

Friday, March 9, 2012. Once Upon a Time. I kind of like the resurgence in fairy tales in Hollywood recently. Between Once Upon a Time. On television and Mirror Mirror. And Snow White and the Huntsman. Coming out as movies, it looks like the memo is going around and it looks like they're attempting to take some new and interesting angles. And The Three Little Pigs. I enjoy looking at the motivation of "the bad guy". I mean, what if the Big Bad Wolf was just hungry? Can you blame him for wanting a bit of r...

Sunday, May 27, 2012. My 20th high school reunion is this weekend, and I'm not there. I can honestly say that schedule-wise it just wasn't going to work and that's the main reason that I didn't go. But when I thought there was a chance I could go, there was a raging debate in my brain as to whether I really wanted to. Some have blogs that are a lot of fun to read. If you're a parent or hope to be one someday. Saturday, May 5, 2012. Theater will be a major part of my summer again this year, but I'm going ...

Faint Hue of Grace. Crossroads Posts and Photos. Wednesday, September 18, 2013. 0 messages from people. Tuesday, May 14, 2013. The End and A Beginning. Friends, this is both a "goodbye" and an invitation to a "Hello! This will be my last post here at Faint Hue of Grace. Because I know you were. ;) ) I'll still be blogging. I'm just moving over HERE. I never thought that I would write as much as I have, and never in a zillion years did I think that anyone would read what I had to say. Two, to write deeply.

It's been 5 weeks. 5 weeks since I drove across 5 states and moved into a little room in a seminary. Since getting here, I've taken copious amounts of notes, committed to 3 jobs, made friends, and learned the area. Now I'm a third of the way done with my first semester, and that's super difficult to believe. It'll be a hard one! The only thing left is to find a young adult group, but I'm fairly positive that as fall hits us, groups will become more active. Letters to Rosa: Little Islands. I took my usual...
the faint hum
Make it weird The sound of the machines that never goes away, the last thing I hear at night and the gentle breath that greets me when I wake up before anyone else. Like the sigh of the wind through ancient tree-bound. Do you have a question? Literally every episode of My Cat from Hell. These posts matched each other so perfectly I thought they were the same post at first. Some dumbass philosophy undergrad:. Perhaps, when you get right down to it, the true monster…is humanity itself. A gargoyle ,Fukuoka.

Tu B'Av, T'shuvah and Tying it Together. Jewish Musings about daily life. Friday, June 24, 2011. In G-d I Trust? And You Can't Make Me! I read an article. Today about a possible new license plate design. For Georgia. Each design has some Peach element in it (shocker! But what did shock me was that a few of the designs had "In God We Trust" at the bottom. I am outraged. You also know is an untrue statement - I don't trust G-d). Please consider the serious personal religious rights violation these license ...

Faint Impressions
Thursday, December 29, 2011. End of Year SALE. Hellooooooo my friends, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and got to spend some time with friends and family and those you care about. Santa was extra good to me this year and among many gifts he gave me a colour printer! As you can see from the lack of blog posts, my inspiration and motivation for making bags for sale has taken a rather long holiday. I thought it was just a quick break but alas it has gone awol and not returned as yet. Tuesday, October ...
