I’m pretty sure my enthusiasm for explaining our trip and the technology that ultimately led to our confusion in great detail convinced the officer that it was probably in his best interest to let us pass rather than let me continue. After arriving in Haines we did some shopping (improved gloves for wet conditions) and prepared our equipment for boarding the ferry early in the morning.
