Farmer on a Mission: April 2013
http://farmeronamission.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Farmer on a Mission. Come along on my adventures in faith, family and farming! JS Wilson Farm Homepage. Sunday, April 21, 2013. The End of My Rope. A few years ago, Jeremy and the kiddos and I were visiting friends and attended a Sunday morning service at Valley Christian Church in Moorhead, Minnesota. VCC was formerly led by Pastor Phil Miller, and currently by Pastor Jim Ray. Anyway, that day there was a guest speaker. I cannot recall his name. This represented the amount of time we are here on earth.

Farmer on a Mission. Come along on my adventures in faith, family and farming! JS Wilson Farm Homepage. Friday, February 3, 2012. Frosty Morning on the Farm. Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10. This morning it was about 23 degrees out with heavy fog. This, along with my baby boy not being at the top of his game, changed my plans for the day completely. I was supposed to be blogging from the Dakota Grown Conference. Well, that AND spending some time with my assistant farm cat caretaker :).

hikerrev: Some Thoughts on Ferguson
http://hikerrev.blogspot.com/2014/11/some-thoughts-on-ferguson.html
Trying to pay attention to what's going on in the world around me. Tuesday, November 25, 2014. Some Thoughts on Ferguson. The decision announced last night to not indict Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Mr. Michael Brown is no longer only about this one incident, if it ever even was. This incident has become, and is, about the state of race relations in this country that so many of us love. I move through every day assuming that I'll be safe, that I'll be able to get what I need at almost a...

Trying to pay attention to what's going on in the world around me. Friday, December 6, 2013. The Hunger Games - some additional brief thoughts. Last week I was compelled to post something about the recent * *. Movie by the teenagers who were making lots of noise in our tv room. The next morning, the teenagers who stayed over the night are raiding our kitchen for breakfast, I was compelled to think about the bigger-picture issues that are brought up in the. Conduct herself during the games. At the same ti...

http://hikerrev.blogspot.com/2014/07/belonging.html
Trying to pay attention to what's going on in the world around me. Monday, July 7, 2014. The other day, the day after I arrived back at my home after a mont-long journey, I went to work out at the (amazing, fantastic, unbelivable) gym where I'm a member. I walked in to the gym, into a large group of people, into a surprising welcome. I felt like the mere fact that I had returned and was going to work out again was celebrated - I felt like I had arrived at a place where I belong. What's the difference bet...

Trying to pay attention to what's going on in the world around me. Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Lent, Week Five. During this season of Lent, I'm writing reflections based on the psalm assigned for each Sunday by the Revised Common Lectionary (look it up, if you want), and sharing those with the congregation I serve when we gather for Evening Prayer on Wednesday evenings. This reflection is from April 9, week five, and is based on Psalm 130. You ever sing the blues? Ever play the blues? Down in the dumps.

Trying to pay attention to what's going on in the world around me. Tuesday, November 26, 2013. The Hunger Games - some brief thoughts. I just went with my family to see the new Hunger Games. Movie (I read the book. A couple times). I was impressed by the storytelling, by the acting (especially for an action-type film), and by how closely the filmmakers were able to stick to the heart of the story as written in the books. Trilogy also explores the complexities of human interpersonal relationships as we se...

Trying to pay attention to what's going on in the world around me. Friday, August 30, 2013. Athletic Competition and Cooperation. I had a conversation with a friend a long time ago, when I was in college. We were young, we were idealistic, and we were exploring the places where our philosophical positions synced up (or didn't) with real life. The conversation I recall revolved around sport – particularly around the competitive component of athletic endeavors. The trouble, though, is that very few people ...

Trying to pay attention to what's going on in the world around me. Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Royalty: an internationally-connected, and often wealthy, group of people who stewards a nation and provides for the large-scale needs of all of the people. Peasantry: a locally-connected, and often not wealthy, group of people who steawards the local land and landscape, and who provide for the small-scale needs of all of the people. I would have loved some kind of compare-and-contrast presentation - maybe a look ...

Blogging the lives of four Farmers…. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. I've Been Shooting Farming in the Foot: Three Things I Wish We'd Stop Saying in Agriculture. Hello, I'm a farmer. I've been shooting myself in the foot.
