Tales from Market to Mouth. 8220;Farming is a profession of hope”- Brian Brett (organic farmer). 8220;Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication” Leonardo Da Vinci. May 10, 2015. I have been thinking a lot about clutter recently. Specifically, I have been thinking about the amount of things I possess and how that relates to sustainability. I came across a statistic this week that made me think this might be a cultural problem (verses a Caitlin problem):. When I first saw this, I thought- no way!

Tales from Market to Mouth. Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit. — Henry David Thoreau →. 8220;The way you cut your meat reflects the way you live.” — Confucius. I have long been fascinated with the connection between food and community. After all, eating is more than simply filling our stomachs, it fills our souls. Thanksgiving dinner, a pint with our teammates after a victory, cake on our birthday, the Last Supper for Christ’s sake! What we eat, where tha...

More and more reasons to buy organic food! June 1, 2014. Dry cleaning your clothes – it’s not so clean! Hi again everyone,. I have been doing some research into the environmental and health risks associated with dry cleaning your clothes, and I thought I would share some of my findings, which is basically to say I won’t be dry cleaning any more of my clothes! My boyfriend recently dry cleaned his suits and afterwards came out in a red and itchy rash, which led me down the path of further investigation.
March | 2014 | More and more reasons to buy organic food!

More and more reasons to buy organic food! Monthly Archives: March 2014. The focus for my next Blog is on the The Dirty Dozen! The dirty dozen includes apples, celery, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, grapes, hot peppers, nectarines, peaches, potatoes, spinach, strawberries, bell peppers, kale and squash. These are all of my favourite foods, so when looking for these in the supermarket, I try to buy the organic version of these. Sometimes a struggle due to lack of choice in the supermarkets. More and more reasons to buy organic food! Monthly Archives: December 2014. The risky future of coal? I have decided to take a slightly different tact for my latest blog and move onto the topic of climate change and fossil fuel investment. Is likely to lose market value in the future due to regulatory changes (carbon taxes etc), increasing costs and the transition to renewable energy). December 18, 2014. 94% of Australian pork comes from cruel factory farms. The risky future of coal? Dry cleaning your cl...

More and more reasons to buy organic food! September 20, 2014. What does an organic egg mean, or free range, farm fresh or………confused? Eggs, eggs eggs! The choice we have in supermarkets these days is baffling and the fact that we still allow cage hen eggs in this day and age really upsets me. Often free range even has some pretty awful conditions for the hens but the conditions vary across the farms – often the egg packages now have the hen/space ratio on the package now. Cages have no nesting area nest...

More and more reasons to buy organic food! February 26, 2015. What are we really putting on our skin and is organic makeup any good? Something I have become increasingly interested in over the last couple of years is the crazy number of chemicals that we are absorbing into our bodies through the many lotions, make up, toothpaste, shampoo, perfume and deodorants we use on a daily basis. Propylene Glycol this is actually found in most de-icer products but also in many moisturisers, shampoos and hair sprays...

More and more reasons to buy organic food! 94% of Australian pork comes from cruel factory farms. I have been hearing recently about the awful conditions pigs are being kept in during their lives within the meat production industry and so thought I would do some research into this myself as I do like a bit of bacon and am starting to feel guilty about where this meat has come from. Where they are afforded no quality of life whatsoever. 94%! The RSPCA Approved system accredits pig farms to RSPCA standards.
