I was thinking of the things Christianity uniquely cures, and I could only come up with three, in the way I make lists. I came up with:. Reminder on the Second Conscious Shock. I had the insight tonight that it is a form of Grace to have the strength to do the second conscious shock. This is always hard to remember. Not self-will effort, but descent of the dove manifesting. The Work does teach how to bring this, and no surprise, it is by steady self-remembering efforts. I think the answer to this 'silence of God' complaint you hear about, and the tendency to get complacent and deadened to the mystery and reality of the faith is to always see, or try to see, the noumenal behind the phenomenal.
