Streetcomber: A borrowed post
http://streetcomber.blogspot.com/2014/05/a-borrowed-post.html
Wednesday, 28 May 2014. I was going to do a quilt update post today, but it's so grey and wet outside that the photos would not work. So here are a few flowers and blue skies from this time last year. I hope it's sunny where you are. Roses from an open garden weekend. There are three of these open gardens coming up in June so I will be going along to some of those. The white clematis are out again and covering our old plum tree, but the petals have been battered by the torrential rain. Hi Karen, yes we u...

Streetcomber: New England Summer
http://streetcomber.blogspot.com/2015/08/new-england-summer.html
Tuesday, 11 August 2015. Grey and lavender works a treat here. Stonington's quaint high street. We stopped in a cafe with a view over the harbour and had lobster sandwiches and iced lemonade. Lobster isn't the luxury item it is here, as it is the local catch, so we were able to have it a few times and it was delicious. We noticed how patriotic the majority of residents seem to be. There were stars and stripes everywhere! Essence of a holiday. Rustic decorations outside an antiques shop. The covered bridg...

Streetcomber: Homespun Style
http://streetcomber.blogspot.com/2012/02/homespun-style.html
Thursday, 16 February 2012. Sometimes, these kinds of interiors books have rather obvious text, but not this one. It is full of ideas, inspirations and quick-to-achieve tips. The glorious photos, by Debi Treloar, are original, too, so you don't get a sense of deja vu. There are homes from around the world, including France and Scandinavia. I especially love this interior (above). And this one.(and that table on the front cover). Gorgeous and highly recommended. Thursday, February 16, 2012. This lovely bo...

Streetcomber: And finally....
http://streetcomber.blogspot.com/2014/03/and-finally.html
Thursday, 13 March 2014. At last. The quilt is finished. I put the final stitches in this morning. I am soooo grateful to my friend Lucy for helping me with the final stages, as I had got completely stuck. I think making a very large quilt as my first was a bit ambitious. But with Lucy's guidance, I got there in the end. It started out like this. I sewed the squares everywhere. On trains when Jack was going to his uni open days. In the car and while waiting anxiously for a friend to have test...The best ...

Streetcomber: The beauty of Coton Manor Gardens
http://streetcomber.blogspot.com/2015/05/thea-beauty-of-coton-manor-gardens.html
Sunday, 10 May 2015. The beauty of Coton Manor Gardens. On Friday, as the country was waking up to a new political landscape, I was heading west for a day out with my oldest friend. We had arranged to meet at Coton Manor near Northampton, which is a direct mid point between our two homes. The Manor is famous for its gorgeously landscaped gardens (and quirky wildlife, of which more later). The sun wasn't out, but it was a mild day, perfect for walking and talking. Another shot of colour from these tulips.

Streetcomber: Dresses -Seasalt and more
http://streetcomber.blogspot.com/2014/02/dresses.html
Monday, 17 February 2014. Dresses -Seasalt and more. I know that I do have at least two male readers, so sorry about this, but I am going to talk about dresses. To date, the best dress I've found for my budget is by Seasalt. This is their Lottie dress (£55, above). I bought one in pale green floral last year, wore it all the time, and I have ordered the sailing boats version for this summer. I can't recommend it highly enough. Below is a subtle beauty from Toast. Out of budget at £129. This one is from B...

Streetcomber: February 2015
http://streetcomber.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, 5 February 2015. I've been out and about this week, researching an article about the county of Rutland, and including Rutland Water, the huge reservoir that lies within. It's been very cold, but there have been some beautiful sunny spells for me to explore walks, pubs, villages and tea shops. This is a cottage in Hambleton, on the Hambleton peninsula, the most picturesque of the villages I've visited so far. You can stand on the peninsula road and see water on both sides. I love to make prints.
