So, here it is mid-July, and I just made the rounds of all the blogs from what I now have to call "last year's" Honors English class. As I suspected, the vast majority of them have been abandoned. They are just sitting out there in cyberspace, no updates since the end of May. A couple folks have made an entry or two, and Trey (wouldn't you know? Alex Gerrish gave me a book called. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

So for the past few months I have been thinking of her as Bright One. And if she keeps going as she has been, I think that’s going to stick. Looking at this Bright One, you would never guess her secret passion. Poetry? She puts on a helmet and some pads, gets on a bike, and goes crazy on a dirt track full of jumps and sharp turns. Here is a snippet of a poem he wrote early in the year: I am from hard work and honesty, from hours of school and math in the summer. I’m from leather couches, cheering the TV as the Chicago Bears score each Sunday. Even though he doesn’t mention English, he’s darn good at that, too! And I’m lucky to have him in my class.
