Strange ramblings of a fiber freak. I met this amazing jewelry artist while at the silver supply place today. Living in Albuquerque means that I am surrounded by artists and you become kinda numb to the whole scene after a while. So when I tell you that this artist has a unique look, it means he really stands out in a crowd of artists. He has both a website and Etsy shop. Which I strongly recommend, especially for those looking to burn through some holiday money. (His photo with permission). Herringbone ...

Strange ramblings of a fiber freak. More Fair Isle tools. I knit a lot in public, often at distracting concerts, and needed to simplify my process. When preparing for a long Fair Isle/stranded project, I start with pattern. I usually have charted in some software or graph paper, but after I settle on the chart, I move to excel. I make the color card and pattern bundle. This is what excel looks like:. Notice that I add the color name and the count? Meanwhile, fiberguy has been very busy cutting away on a ...

Because People Know Everything. Did you ever have an item you just couldn't identify? Or have a question that you didn't even know where to ask? Friday, January 05, 2007. Noro Kureyon part 3. This is the Kureyon I have been examining, #102. I measured my skein roughly using a fingertip to chest measure and then I would tie off to hold that spot. My length is approx 30" and I list by lengths in the order I found the colors. So, 9 = 9*30=270" or 22.5 ft or 7.5 yds. Links to this post. Noro Kureyon part 3.

Missy B: A Clutch of Cowls?

http://missyb.typepad.com/missy_b/2009/10/a-clutch-of-cowls.html

Spinning, Knitting, Weaving, dyeing, and living. October 13, 2009. A Clutch of Cowls? When I saw this article. I only did three repeats of the main patten since I knew I would have yarn to make it longer.  Even still I ended up spinning up a little more when it became apparent that I was going to run out of yarn while I was working on the edging.  I weighed the cowl after I finished and it only weighed 68 grams so i was only 12 grams off. Oct 13, 2009 5:34:00 AM. Nice job on the cowl! This red collapsibl...

Saturday, March 23, 2013. Just finished the Amari shawl. Three shades of green batts from The Fibre Fairy are now spun and the shawl is finished and being blocked. I increased the size so I could use all of my yarn. Got a bit nervous at the end. I used all but four yards. That was close! Very happy with it. Blocked out to 25 X 60 inches. Links to this post. Cotton Crop: Apr 24, 2008

http://cottoncrop.blogspot.com/2008_04_24_archive.html

Growing cotton on a personal scale. Thursday, April 24. Emergence. Look at this mighty seedling rip the ground above it's head. And leaves are coming out all over. Even in the big pots we are getting 100% germination. We will have to thin like mad I think. And if you look very closely next to the rock you will see several little green shoots coming out. Growing cotton on a personal scale. Wednesday, April 22. Seeds in the ground. Finally it warmed up enough to plant seeds in the soil. Fiberguy made crisp edges for the bed with a tamper and rake. These will hold a pool of water in, forcing it down deep into the soil. We do this also because we live on a steep slope. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Fiber Gal in Phoenix. Friday, July 1, 2011. Twas the Night Before TDF 2011. What is TDF 2011? If you aren't really into spinning or ravelry. Then this will be your very first question. Tour de Fleece is the annual spin-along during the Tour de France. It starts on July 2nd and runs through July 24th, just like the Tour de France. There are various teams and some people are committed to spinning on more than one team. I usually just join Tempe Yarn and Fiber's. Here are my 3 Goals for TDF 2011:. This blog...
