Lyrical Polyphony: Thoughts on discrimination
http://lyricalpolyphony.blogspot.com/2013/11/thoughts-on-discrimination.html
Tuesday, November 5, 2013. I've been thinking about the cases recently in which, in order to comply with anti-discrimination legislation, business owners are compelled to provide services which violate their conscience. (e.g. the florist who didn't want to service a gay wedding because she felt that homosexuality is a sin.). I am assuming that any pedophelic behavior is not an orientation, but a predatory, criminal perversion of the most obscene and horrific sort). So, most businesses would be under anti...

Lyrical Polyphony: The fundamental, if painfully over-simplified, difference between certain opposing economic policies....

Wednesday, September 28, 2016. The fundamental, if painfully over-simplified, difference between certain opposing economic policies. Is basically this: imagining total available wealth as a pie, which is more important, that the pieces are getting more equal in size, even if the overall pie and thus the available pie per piece is smaller, or that the overall pie and proportionally the pieces are getting bigger, regardless of their relative sizes compared to other pieces? Lyrical Polyphony: Playing the organ again!
http://lyricalpolyphony.blogspot.com/2014/07/playing-organ-again.html
Sunday, July 27, 2014. Playing the organ again! It's been a crazy year, and I have neglected this blog for some time. I'm still homeschooling and teaching piano in the evenings, and now I am also the organist/accompanist for my church. My last organist position was in college, and I've missed it. The piano is still my favorite, but I really love the organ- I love that big, serious sound! Now to dig out some serious Bach and get my pedal feet in shape. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Said to the woman, ‘Choose! And the woman waited long:. And she said, ‘Freedom! And life said, ‘Thou hast. Well chosen. If thou hadst said,. 8220;Love,” I would have given. Thee that thou didst ask for;. And I would have gone from thee no. More Now, the day will come. When I shall return. In that. Day I shall bear both gifts in.

Lyrical Polyphony: Thoughts on the shutdown
http://lyricalpolyphony.blogspot.com/2013/10/thoughts-on-shutdown.html
Monday, October 14, 2013. Thoughts on the shutdown. My feelings on the partial US government shutdown boil down to two thoughts, really:. 1 Math. Use it. If you don't have money, don't spend money. Hopefully, it will not come to that.) However, we support the House's efforts at fiscal responsibility and hope that they do not capitulate to bullying and intransigence. All posts by Matthew Bedford. What Is Orthodoxy And Why Does It Matter? 27 June, 2016. The word “orthodoxy” refers to the generally held doctrines of the Christian church. When someone talks about the orthodox teachings of the Church, they are talking about beliefs that are held more or less strongly by all branches of the Christian Church. This includes the evangelical church, the Catholic church, the Orthodox church, the Lutheran church, and their many branches and offshoots. Why does this matter?

The Failure Of The Progressive Dream. 14 October, 2014. Intelligent people going back thousands of years have returned again and again to desiring a particular type of leader: The Philosopher King. Some leaders have actually tried to embody Plato’s Kallipolisian ideal, including Marcus Aurelius of Rome and Matthias Corvinus of Hungary and Croatia, not just by being super-intelligent, but by studying and applying the craft of leadership, the ideas and ideals of kingship and stewardship. They needed a Phil...
