We regularly hold introductory workshops run by Dr Jemma Hockley: Clinical Psychologist (DClinPsych) and Annabelle Barr: Equine Specialist and EAGALA Board Member. Cost: 45 per person. Tea and coffee is provided with light refreshments: please bring a packed lunch). All proceeds go towards funding our work (Registered charity no. 1137362). A group of six pupils from the school began a course of 6 sessions in Equine Therapy. Under the guidance of expert therapists from ‘Strength In Horses’ the pupils worked closely with two horses attempting to guide them through various tasks in an enclosed paddock. A group of six pupils from the school began a course of 6 sessions in Equine Therapy. Under the guidance of expert therapists from ‘Strength In Horses’ the pupils worked closely with two horses attempting to guide them through various tasks in an enclosed paddock. Overall this therapeutic experience has had a profound effect on the confidence of the young people and we would be very keen to continue this type of therapy and to be able to offer it to others (Senior Teacher, Pupil Referral Unit).

We favour a natural approach to working with horses. Strength in Horses operates according to EAGALA guidelines. This means that both the horse professional and mental health professional are trained to the levels required by EAGALA and both must be present throughout every session.
