27 Stories: Working Abstract
http://laurathesis.blogspot.com/2010/03/working-abstract.html
Sunday, March 21, 2010. I've pieced together bits of different abstracts and come up with this, it's kind of disjointed, but I think it gets across what I'm trying to do; at least better than previous attempts. Comments? 27 STORIES – ABSTRACT. The inspiration for this thesis came from Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities. A series of fifty-five stories describing the travels of Marco Polo. Individually, each city is fictitious, but together they make up Marco Polo’s Venice. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

27 Stories: October 2009
http://laurathesis.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 27, 2009. These postcards are my very small haul from the September postcard show in Burlington. I'm trying to come up with ways to insert the postcards that I've collected into my thesis book, and so far all I've got is using them as spacers between stories, even if they don't relate to the story preceding or following. Would this be wierd? Would I have to have an explination for why I placed certain cards in certain places? Elliot Lake, Ontario. Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The 100 - 43-45.

27 Stories: Christmas Lights
http://laurathesis.blogspot.com/2010/03/christmas-lights.html
Monday, March 22, 2010. It starts after Halloween. There’s no specific when it happens, it’s a gradual building throughout the month of November, and then Wham! Its full-blown presence hits on December first. Christmas lights on houses, around windows, wrapping around trees and lining driveways. Blow-up Santas and snowmen frolic on front lawns and atop roofs. Rudolph leads the other eight reindeer across neighbourhoods, and candy canes and cedar wreaths adorn doors and windows. There is a television show...

27 Stories: September 2009
http://laurathesis.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 30, 2009. This story needs work, but for the first one written during the hour a day meetings I kind of like where its going. There are issues with the tenses and maybe too much description, not enough action, I'm not sure. Let me know what you think. Tuesday, September 29, 2009. 27 Stories: SUBURBAN DRIVER
http://laurathesis.blogspot.com/2010/03/suburban-driver.html
Monday, March 29, 2010. Seven fifty-eight am. You pass the truck, who has broken down, at a slightly faster pace than those being forced around by the flashing lights of a tow truck and police car. Why must everyone slow down to take a look at another’s misfortune? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Different point of view. BODY HEAT or: what to do in an emergency. 27 Stories: December 2009
http://laurathesis.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 7, 2009. Directed by Rian Johnson. This movie took place in a California suburb, in a variety of empty or semi-deserted locations; the high-school, a payphone on a residential street, a tunnel, and the basement of a single-family home. There were very few characters outside of the major roles. I think this enforced the sense of isolation and independence of the protagonist while also showing the suburbs as a lonely, desolate and dangerous place. Tuesday, December 1, 2009. 27 Stories: June 2009
http://laurathesis.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 18, 2009. I know I haven't posted any written work in awhile, so here's the latest. It's unedited, and slightly over my word count, which has never happened before, so let me know what you think. The men outside were smoking and talking to one another, all in their late teens, or early twenties. I noticed that one of them was wearing a Toronto Blue Jays ball cap, while two others sported the black and white NYY on their heads. So much for home town proud. Tuesday, June 9, 2009. 27 Stories: New Story
http://laurathesis.blogspot.com/2010/03/new-story.html
Friday, March 5, 2010. MEET ME AT TIM’S. We don’t drive up there very often anymore, but the last time I did, the building had been bulldozed and the empty lot had a for sale sign on the corner. I wonder sometimes if a Tim Horton’s with a drive-thru would have been able to survive there. The highway is a well-travelled route, especially in the summertime with people from the cities heading north to their cottages. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
