My heart aches with anticipation, with hope for what the New Year will bring. I wish for contact with this boy from the ether, that we can clear the clouds of uncertainty and self-imposed shame. In my hopeful daydreams, he materializes in front of me so I can touch his face, grasp his hands before we share an overdue, gentle embrace. Hurry up and wait.

My search for the child I gave up for adoption. Wrapping up another year. December 30, 2016. As we approach the end of 2016, I can sympathize with those who saw it as a year of losses in the arts. And incredible political instability south of the border. I also experienced a loss in my large family. A product of Catholic obedience.
