Keeping The Pace: Chevron Houston (half) Marathon Recap:
http://keepinthepace.blogspot.com/2011/01/chevron-houston-half-marathon-recap.html
Monday, January 31. Chevron Houston (half) Marathon Recap:. I woke up at 4am because I wanted time to shower, calm my nerves and warm up my muscles. I know, shower before a race? I was not too thrilled about the marathons suggestion to line up at 6:15 knowing that meant I would be STANDING in line for almost an hour before my race. Who practices for that? Standing shoulder to shoulder with people an hour before you actually start running? There was nothing to drink not a single cup on the table! The fini...

Friday, January 16. Loooooooong Time No See! Where does time go! It has been over a year almost two since I posted on this blog! Yet I couldn't seem to balance higher mileage training with the effort I needed to put into loosing weight. Part of the difficulty is my age but also that my body has adapted to running over the 20 years I have run. These years have been a struggle on so many levels. To not see the scale move yet you are trying everything is disheartening! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Welcome to...

Tuesday, February 17. Race for the Halo 5k Report. I decided last year after another disappointing half-marathon I was going to take a break from longer distances and concentrate on loosing weight and getting faster. It has at times been a tough choice as I have missed those longer runs. But I know that my training needed a boost and these old legs needed convincing they could indeed run faster. Race for the Halo. Technically it was two age groups (50-59) combined! Don't think, just run.". This was the s...

Wednesday, September 12. These people have actual revolving door parties! It has been a long time since my last post but I'm still around and life. Has been going well and my mileage is building. I complete last week with 30 miles on these old legs and Lord willing will finish out this week with 32 miles on the books. I'm trying to get up to around 40 miles a week. It seems to be taking me a lot longer this time to re-build but I made it through summer! The Fort Worth Marathon. I am so there! Welcome to ...

Thursday, November 15. T" Town and Cowtown Recap. First I will do a quick review of the Tulsa Run 15k. And then move onto my most recent race the Fort Worth Marathon (1/2 for me). We left Friday morning and arrived in Tulsa some 8 hrs. later. The first thing I noticed was it was freezing! Yes my Texas blood has thinned in the past couple of years and I found the cold air to be very unpleasant. For time sake I will list my mistakes in order:. First I psyched myself out about the last miles of hills days.
