Invisible Studio: April 2009
http://invisiblestudio.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 27. Red Faction: Guerrilla Preview. Has options. In fact, options is the name of the game, or at least of the PS3 demo I've been playing for the last few days. Don't like physical labor? These are no measly explosions, either; they're big, colorful, and feature all sorts of heat distortions. Explosions instantly devour buildings and launch nearby enemies into the air. Developer Volition's clearly devoted much effort to the effects, and it shows. On top of destruction, Guerrilla. Offers choi...

Wednesday, July 29. Enacting Experience Part 1: It's a Nice Day Today. This is the first part of a three part article series about the use of "enacting experience" as exampled in three Flash games. The concept of enacting experience comes from the world of poetry and describes how the experience of something matches it's content. This may be the most revelatory game you've ever played. The title is God Damn It's a Nice Fucking Day Today. And let me tell you, it's a tapestry of pure genius. Straight-up Fa...

Invisible Studio: October 2009
http://invisiblestudio.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 14. Today I was ecstatic to discover an official Spore challenge. Tasking creators with generating an entire developmental lineage of creature. We all know how awesome Poke'mon are, and this challenge gives players the opportunity to express how their own creatures might evolve. The finalist results feature some amazing work. Choosing amongst them was extremely difficult, though I eventually settled on the kmart666's. Tuesday, October 13. Mahler says, is inspired "heavily" by the works...

Monday, November 30. Left 4 Dead 2 Scavenge Strategy Guide. If you were to look at my Steam profile. You might notice that I've been playing a whole lot of Left 4 Dead 2. Left 4 Dead 2. Saturday, November 21. A Reckless Disregard for Gravity Review. I scoff at the notion. My desires can be obtained only with a lust for self-destruction. Only greed. Only a misplaced conception of self-preservation can earn what I seek. Only, a reckless disregard for gravity. A Reckless Disregard for Gravity. Glass scoring...

Invisible Studio: Left 4 Dead 2 Pipe Bomb Trick
http://invisiblestudio.blogspot.com/2010/01/left-4-dead-2-pipe-bomb-trick.html
Monday, January 18. Left 4 Dead 2 Pipe Bomb Trick. Yesterday, I opened up Left 4 Dead 2. For my habitual Scavenge round and joined a Motel server. First thing that happens when I join, this Ellis goes: "Hey, you guys want to see something awesome? Recorder for just such occasions. I managed to catch on tape many successful pegs, as well as some failures. I used Pinnacle Video Spin 2. To splice the videos together along with some editing. Source: Left 4 Dead 2 Pipe Bomb Trick. Friday, January 16. I've started to do some writing for The Game Reviews. Or TGR. My first article is up, an email interview with Peter Anthony Chiodo of Stoked. An Xbox 360 exclusive snowboarding game. The game is looking really great, and Tony provided plenty of good information on the game and its development. Check out the interview at TGR. Saturday, January 10. The Greatest Decision of Our Generation. Friends, Gamers, Country! Be without these great heroes? Of the unit, the unit model. As a gamer, B...

Invisible Studio: March 2009

Monday, March 30. Dead Space, Extraction, and the Value of Movement. Long time, no see. I'm working on graduating this May and, somewhat unfortunately, have chosen to devote my time to things other than writing articles. That is not to say, however, that I've forgone my game playing, research and design. I am now the proud owner of a PlayStation 3 and am every so slowly working my way through Grand Theft Auto IV. Finally). I've also been playing through Burnout Paradise. Check out the trailer. A "guided ...

Tuesday, December 8. The Role of Interpretation in Prince of Persia. Today, I've published an article on GameCareerGuide examining the role of interpretation in Ubisoft's 2008 Prince of Persia. This is my first professionally published essay, and I am pleased with how it turned out. I would like to thank my parents for never giving me a ride to school, and the GameCareerGuide editor who took a chance on an unknown kid. Read the essay at GameCareerGuide. Sunday, December 6. Every aspect of Shattered Horiz...

Invisible Studio: Retroactive Haitus
http://invisiblestudio.blogspot.com/2010/06/retroactive-haitus.html
Monday, June 7. Long time no see. And I'll likely take what free time I can garner to work on finishing up that. Pre-Peru, I was running into some pretty darn tough road-blocks that I'll have to deduce some means of overcoming sooner or later. Tonight, I have for you a brand new article, a preview of StarCraft II. From my copious, over-zealous time spent with the beta. *Sniff* A beta that ends tonight. But all is well, because now I'll have more time to play Shattered Horizon. View my complete profile.
