Ed Tech Emu: January 2011
http://edtechemu.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 22, 2011. Flipped Econ Week 2. Due to some unforseen circumstances I was unable to be in class this week but fortunately I could follow along virtually. Another benefit to the current class structure. It does limit however how much I can summarize about the week here. Next weeks summary should be more informative. The process of getting on iTunes is surprisingly simple and I hope to write a post about it in the near future. Links to this post. Monday, January 17, 2011. So in the last we...

Sam Gladstein's Digital Learners Blog: August 2011

Sam Gladstein's Digital Learners Blog. What's up with digital learning in education. Sunday, August 14, 2011. Let’s teach America the facts, and begin to stamp out the uninformed opinions of TV talking heads who haven’t seen the inside of a classroom since they were students themselves. In short, they will mean that students in Washington state will not receive as complete an education as they did just a few years ago. Advocates challenge constitutionality of super-majority statute. Transparent Algebra: Day 25
http://transparentalgebra.blogspot.com/2011/09/day-25.html
Reflections on teaching and learning. Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Today's opener builds on yesterday's lesson to see if they can construct a slope triangle and/or use the slope formula to find the slope between two points. Then there are two problems seeing if they can figure out the y-intercept from an equation in slope-intercept form, then a dimensional analysis problem involving texting and driving. Their homework for tonight is watch the Slope video. Posted by Karl Fisch. Line of best fit.

Transparent Algebra: Day 20
http://transparentalgebra.blogspot.com/2011/09/day-20.html
Reflections on teaching and learning. Friday, September 16, 2011. Our opener today includes another sequence and some practice with graphing an equation using a table of values where they need to solve for y first. So, not a terribly interesting day, but again one I think they need periodically to reinforce some of these skills. Their homework is to prepare for their assessment tomorrow over Graphing Linear Equations Using a Table of Values. Posted by Karl Fisch. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Transparent Algebra: June 2011
http://transparentalgebra.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Reflections on teaching and learning. Thursday, June 30, 2011. Today's opener reviews Order of Operations, solving a one-step equation involving multiplication, and a Dimensional Analysis problem. While they are working on the opener I'll be walking around checking to make sure they have at least the Self-Check problems from the video they were supposed to watch for homework. Then today's lesson is to learn about Inverse Variations in the context of speed (d = rt). First, we take a look at this. Assuming...

Transparent Algebra: January 2011
http://transparentalgebra.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Reflections on teaching and learning. Monday, January 31, 2011. It's Been a While. So, obviously, I stopped blogging there for a while. Partly for the usual reason (time), and partly because I felt like I was simply repeating myself, which wasn't helpful to anyone out there or to me (which, selfishly, is the main reason I was writing here). So, if anyone is still out there, stay tuned. Hopefully this post won't be at the top of the page for too long. Posted by Karl Fisch. Links to this post.
