Fitness, Geek stuff. Laquo; I’ve Moved! February 21, 2012. I’ve been mostly quiet about my goals this year. Here on the blog, I’ve been just quiet in general. I’m trying to find more time to blog. Hopefully this will be my best attempt. This year I’ve set out a number of goals that I didn’t accomplish last year. In fact, I accomplished 0 of my goals. 2011 was a failure as a runner, husband, father and person. With that in mind, here are just some of my goals for 2012. These aren’t my only goals, for sure...

Fitness, Geek stuff. Laquo; 2012 Resolutions. October recap and November preview. November 2, 2012. October Training Recap and November Preview. This was the month I was supposed to really break through in my training. And I did. For about two weeks. Then the running slowed to nothing, I rarely lifted weights and nothing got done to push me closer to my goal. By the end of the month, I was over my original starting weight for the month and severely undertrained. I’ve lost too many days and weeks this yea...

Running From 30: Double D Review: Glamourise Sport Bra
http://runfrom30.blogspot.com/2008/06/double-d-review-glamourise-sport-bra.html
Wednesday, 11 June 2008. Double D Review: Glamourise Sport Bra. About a year ago, my sister and I did an Urban Dare. Together. (Side note - totally fun! Thanks to dad and Meg for help from home.) I was just getting into running and pretty out of shape, plus the format of the event is that there's a fair amount of stop-and-starting. Combined, this made for a sweaty me who would get cooled off and then start running again. I have a couple of these. Chafing. Bounce not entirely banned. I am a "D" and would ...
Running From 30: March 2010
http://runfrom30.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 2 March 2010. One run or one cookie? Yesterday's Well column in the NYTimes. I enjoy being the first one in the office in the morning. I like the quiet, and the (admittedly overly self-righteous) ability to roll my eyes at yet another email from a colleague saying s/he is running late. That used to be me, and I love that it isn't anymore. And exercise is the thing that makes it possible. Marchathon: 2 for 2. Links to this post. The good: Yoga Sutra. Links to this post. Running From 30: Too long
http://runfrom30.blogspot.com/2009/08/too-long.html
Monday, 24 August 2009. But now it's time to really get back in to it. I had been thinking over the last week that I really missed the discipline of just getting on the mat - or into my trainers - in the morning. There's something therapeutic about it. All of which helped me have a calm feeling this morning at work, good because I had to have a sit-down with the boss over some changes here, and it went better than I could ever have hoped. Running From 30: Freaky short arms
http://runfrom30.blogspot.com/2009/09/freaky-short-arms.html
Monday, 7 September 2009. Who shares my fate, and she doesn't have any ideas either. Help! I hope you dont mind me saying this but I have found so much comfort in this entry. Theres someone else out there with short arms. And the fact that you found someone else out there with this same problem. Stumbling upon your blog has made my night. 23 April 2010 at 07:21. Thanks for stopping by, though I wish I had answers for you. Your running looks so beautiful. 25 April 2010 at 22:31. Other Bloggers on the Run.
Running From 30: And in class this morning...
http://runfrom30.blogspot.com/2009/08/and-in-class-this-morning.html
Wednesday, 5 August 2009. And in class this morning. I seem to only blog on Wednesdays lately. The week is settling down enough that I have space to breathe during my lunch hour, but it hasn't gotten so long that I sleep through my workout. Or something, I'm justifying it to myself in the hopes of changing both the workout and blogging behaviour. Welcome, I suppose, though selfishly I'm hoping they don't all stick around. Monday, 7 September 2009. Who shares my fate, and she doesn't have any ideas either. Help! Links to this post. Friday, 4 September 2009. My yoga has been erratic lately (though better than my running which has been non-existent): a couple days last week with Michaela, then nothing on Monday (a holiday) and an evening led class on Wednesday. So when I finally saw Philippa again this morning, she asked 'Have you had some time off? Speaking of the led class: first off it was packed - as this one always is.

Running From 30: Double D Review: Sports Bra Round-up, part 1
http://runfrom30.blogspot.com/2009/01/double-d-review-sports-bra-round-up.html
Thursday, 22 January 2009. Double D Review: Sports Bra Round-up, part 1. If I'd ever found a sports bra with no bounce whatsoever. Unfortunately, I can't say that I have. But I have tried a lot, and have some thoughts for you. First of all, I'm American by background. So most of what I know are American stores. (If any of my large-breasted English friends have suggestions, I'm all ears.or eyes.or whatever.). I buy most of my sports bras from two places: Title Nine. Known as the Last Resort. I like this o...
Running From 30: An hour of yoga is as good as an hour of sleep
http://runfrom30.blogspot.com/2009/07/hour-of-yoga-is-as-good-as-hour-of.html
Wednesday, 29 July 2009. An hour of yoga is as good as an hour of sleep. I was right. Not only do I not feel like I need to go back to sleep now (as I surely would have felt if I had just rolled over this morning), I’m un-tired and un-guilty feeling! Also want to give a shout-out to Runner Insight. Monday when I was doing purvattanasana. So in summary, yoga can replace sleep and a positive attitude is a good thing. I’m an annoying-cheery person today, aren’t I? What is the point in that? Other Bloggers o...
Running From 30: DD Review: Moving Comfort Fiona Bra
http://runfrom30.blogspot.com/2009/05/dd-review-moving-comfort-fiona-bra.html
Sunday, 31 May 2009. DD Review: Moving Comfort Fiona Bra. We haven't talked boobage for a while and this baby. Has been getting a fair amount of use lately so I thought it might be time to talk about the Moving Comfort Fiona Bra. Though truthfully I'm not 100% sure this is what it is, I'm about 95% sure and my last remaining doubts come from the fact that I can't find anywhere that sells it in the colour I have (grey and black). Anyway, let's assume this is what it is. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Fitness Geek
Running, family and general geekiness. Posted on Jan 01, 2014 under Uncategorized. I’m trying to keep it simple this year when it comes to goals. Run 1,000 miles. Break 5:30 in a 50K. Finish all the Game of Thrones books. Break 4:30 in a marathon. Happy New Year to you and yours! Posted on Apr 08, 2013 under Exercise. My fastest 5k is a shade over 24 minutes. Right now I’m just starting to flirt with slipping under 30 minutes. Here’s the thing: during my truraining for the ultra I was...But that’s ...
