5/17: visualize data, visualize success
http://fiveoneseven.blogspot.com/2009/11/visualize-data-visualize-success.html
In a completely rational society, the best of us would be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less." - Lee Iacocca. Saturday, November 14, 2009. Visualize data, visualize success. Blog-neighbor The Science Goddess, who is leading the charge in Washington state toward standards-based grading, shares some of her research-based data visualization practices. But it may be a better start for identifying issues. Absolutely. I'll go one step further:. It ends up looking like this:.
5/17: saved by the stimulus, or adventures in accounting
http://fiveoneseven.blogspot.com/2009/10/saved-by-stimulus-or-adventures-in.html
In a completely rational society, the best of us would be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less." - Lee Iacocca. Thursday, October 15, 2009. Saved by the stimulus, or adventures in accounting. How has the stimulus affected public education? Teachers appear to have benefited most from the effort to save jobs with the $787 billion recovery package, which sent billions of dollars to states that were on the verge of ordering heavy layoffs in education. The White House says more ...
5/17: school bus ad bills dead

In a completely rational society, the best of us would be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less." - Lee Iacocca. Monday, March 01, 2010. School bus ad bills dead. A while back I noted a few legislators' novel idea to raise revenue: ads on public school buses. Today, Slog reports that both such bills died in committee, and will not be resuscitated. The initiative to legalize pot is still clinging to life support. And the ACLU refuses to chip in to cover its medical bills.
5/17: no revenue stream too murky

In a completely rational society, the best of us would be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less." - Lee Iacocca. Wednesday, January 20, 2010. No revenue stream too murky. Lauds outside-the-box thinking by Washington legislators. Two bills that receive a tentative "meh:" adding private vendors to rest stops, and allowing ads on school buses. Since this is an edu-blog, let's look at the latter. Add back-seat televisions that run school-appropriate, mind-numbing, non-stop kid-c...

In a completely rational society, the best of us would be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less." - Lee Iacocca. Monday, August 20, 2007. Voter guide for District 4 candidates now online. If you're voting in the August primary for the Olympia School Board District 4 race, you've probably received your guide by now. Still, just to be sure, the Thurston County Auditor offers it online as well. Here are the candidates' statements. I'm here to fill in the gaps. I Thought a Think.

Bringing you excerpts from the life of Jim and Melissa Anderson. Tuesday, October 23, 2007. Of my very few readers has politely requested that I blog more about what I'm learning in school. This is a great idea, one which I will try to implement. No promises, though. I am taking 18 credits this quarter (and doing 20 credits worth of work- more on that later). And, as if I didn't have enough to do, I just started working for a local purveyor of legal highs. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Bringing you excerpts from the life of Jim and Melissa Anderson. Wednesday, June 18, 2008. Breast Cancer 3-Day Update! As I mentioned before, my girlfriends and I have signed up for the Seattle Breast Cancer 3 Day benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Our fundraising party with the 80's theme was a big success- we collected lots of money between the cover charge and the raffle and had a ton of fun! Congratulations on your progress so far and good luck going forward. Why did you and Jim get divorced?

Bringing you excerpts from the life of Jim and Melissa Anderson. Tuesday, November 29, 2005. An open letter to friends and family. Late last night my husband popped his head into our bedroom, "Babe? Are you still awake? He then quietly asked if he could read me something. To which, thinking he was going to supply the latest clever commentary from his blog, I replied, "You're lucky I love you.". His solemn answer was a barely audible, "I know." This is what he read to me:. Don't wait, Brittany- sign up no...

Knits and miscellany from Lansing. Frak ’em all! May 19, 2009 by Sara. I totally missed my deadline on the Viper Pilots. In retrospect, it was such a totally arbitrary deadline that I don’t really care. In the end, I have a lovely, finished (! Pair of socks, and I got to meet both Chief and Tigh. That’s really good enough for me. They even pose at the same angle:. So that was Comic Con. On to the socks:. From Knitting to Stay Sane.
