Ray's Hiking Journal: July 2014
http://myhikingjournal.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Stories and photos of hikes from the White Mountains of NH. Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Mt Major - Quick Afternoon Excercise. I probably should have stayed home today. All was going well until we were nearly back at the car and I suddenly slipped on a rock and sprained an Achilles tendon on my left side. It bothered me enough that we took about 10-days off from hiking. Oh well. Just a couple of photos:. Rattlesnake Island - Very clear how it got its name. Saturday, July 19, 2014. To complete the Grid.

So often when we hike in or near Franconia Notch we will catch views of Mt Lincoln and Mt Lafayette from various outlooks or summits. That would also hold true during today's hike. Somehow though, our views of Lincoln/Lafayette today were different; more spectacular. That will be evident in photos shown later in this post. Beautiful petals on a flower? This and t...

Ray's Hiking Journal: Mt Osceola - Take Two
http://myhikingjournal.blogspot.com/2015/06/mt-osceola-take-two.html
Stories and photos of hikes from the White Mountains of NH. Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Mt Osceola - Take Two. We last did this hike in May 2011. As we work on getting our hiking legs back after a long winter, we decided returning to Osceola would be a good choice. There were two reasons for that thinking. First, this is one of the easiest 4,000 footers and second, the last time we did this hike it was overcast so the views were minimal. Here are some photos:. Rocks, rocks and more rocks. Flags on the 48.
