Confessions of Another Common Reader. As you will see if you can bear to scroll backwards, o unwary visitor, my commitment to this site has been fickle at best. Moved around, abandoned, repurposed, generally mixed up and messed around, it’s rather a wonder it has allowed me to log in again… who knows where this could lead. I’m only just starting a new book so I may not be back for a while. But I wanted to draw the line now. And so to bed. Posted under Book stuff. José Saramago – Blindness.

Confessions of Another Common Reader. Elizabeth Knox – The Vintner’s Luck. Since loving Eleanor Catton’s. Earlier this year (and interviewing her. Which was one of the high points of the year for me), I’ve been making an effort to get to know more New Zealand writers. Ellie recommended Elizabeth Knox, some of whose work is published in the UK rather than requiring ludicrous shipping charges on top of NZ’s already-high book prices. I’ve been looking out for. The Vintner’s Luck. The Angel’s Game.

Confessions of Another Common Reader. Josephine Tey – The Franchise Affair. Although hopelessly drawn to print in its many forms, I count the Guardian Review as one of the most potent drugs in my personal pantheon of addiction. As well as engrossing me for an hour or so every weekend when I could be actually shrinking the tottering stacks, I frequently come away from an issue with several more books on my list. It was under the Grauniad’s insidious influence that. We were only there for a couple of days,...

Confessions of Another Common Reader. Vintage Books Open Day I – A Short Story. Showcasing cover design trends - hand lettering. And I can’t not mention their Twitter account. 8211; social media done properly, interactive, informative, friendly and varied, refreshingly free of wearying overpromotion. About this – but I wanted over my next couple of posts to pick up on a couple of themes that cropped up that have been ringing through the industry recently. Same Old, Same Old. There Are Little Kingdoms.

A farewell, of sorts | spilled milk

https://flossieteacake.wordpress.com/2007/04/20/a-farewell-of-sorts

Just another WordPress.com weblog. A farewell, of sorts. April 20, 2007. I’m nearly there – I imported my paltry few posts from this site to my own WordPress installation. So this site is likely to become completely dormant, unless I need to keep it this way for OpenID purposes (still think it’s quite cool to have a persistent ID, even if it is annoying that said persistent ID is a URL rather than a proper name). Proper site is at flossieteacake.net. Hope to see you there. Entry Filed under: Uncategorized.

Saturday, May 19, 2012. To My Diary Friday May 12th, 1932. It's not that far from Josh's house to the hunting camp the men use in the fall to listen to their dogs run. It's set in the hillside above Stout's Creek about a hundred yards from the bottoms where Josh and I fish. It was a chilly May evening so the small camp fire that Josh built took the chill out of the air and made us real comfortable. Friday, May 18, 2012. To My Diary Thursday May 11th 1932. Life On Flossies Pharm. Life On Flossie's Pharm. No, Flossie Is Not My Real Name. Photo by Liz Thomas Photography. Monday, June 1, 2015. A Weekend With The Girls. We made the trip back to Casa de King. Even though Sam was outnumbered by the girls, he had a great time. In the days leading up to their visit, I was able to say, "We need to do. Fill in the blank. Popsicles and lemonade in big people cups. (Outside.of course. I'm a cool aunt, but I'm not crazy.). All Her. Idea. Someday it will be heels, pearl...

spilled milk | Just another WordPress.com weblog

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Great event at the shop last night. Lorrie Moore read the opening story from her. 8211; not as dramatic as Anne Enright, but still lovely to listen to. Great story about Daniel Handler winning an Ebay auction in aid of the First Amendment Project to have a character in her next published work named after him –. Agreed to it and a seedy Caribbean masseur named Dan Handler duly appeared. May has been particularly insane, and my pre-event re-reading only managed to take in.

Books and Other Things. Monday, 26 March 2018. I've Written a Book. I've just looked up the date and found that it's 23 months to the day since an email dropped into my inbox that was the catalyst for the book you can see at the top of this post. I did consider waiting a month to write this post when I realised that, as it would have so much more symmetry, but impatience seems to have won out. Before I tell you about my own book, I want to rewind to 2012, when I wrote a post. Wishing you a happy week,.
