There are several factors involved in that estimate, including frequency of lessons and ability to focus on study outside the airport. Legally, the minimum for a private pilot is forty hours. I use the standard practice of billing for each tenth of an hour of instruction. I charge for ground time both before and after a flight. That’s a benefit to you; you don’t need to worry about me trying to brief you on a flight while the airplane engine is running, which would cost you at least three times as much.
