Illinois has been a state with few inclusive postsecondary education (PSE) opportunities for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). In 2006-2007, the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) convened the "Essential Skills Workgroup", looking at models for inclusive education and how community colleges could be encouraged to reach out to this group of students.
