Split the Needles: Cutting Canvas
http://splittheneedles.blogspot.com/2015/07/cutting-canvas.html
Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Don't you just love cutting your canvas? It's so liberating. It took a quiet room and almost an hour for me to cut, glue and stitch around a hole the size of a quarter. Turn it over, glue the threads around the hole and CUT. Keep breathing while you do this. Stick the candle through to make sure it FITS. Then turn it over and more glue and restitch the hole. And to think I have the summer candle in my stash :-). Moving on to something much less complicated.my alligator. Fates and ...

http://splittheneedles.blogspot.com/2015/07/ok-this-is-sad.html
Monday, July 13, 2015. Ok, This Is Sad. In my never ending quest to whittle down my works in progress and retrieve magnets , I have now come to my Autumn Candle. This is so so sad.I'll bet I can complete this is 10 days. TOPS. Here's a closer look. The last thing I remember about this canvas was that I was sitting in pre-op with my husband about to have surgery and thinking."wow the light in here is perfect! Have a great week,. Split the Needles: Ready For Surgery
http://splittheneedles.blogspot.com/2015/07/ready-for-surgery.html
Sunday, July 19, 2015. Today was a "recharge" day at our house so I finished the stitching on the autumn candle. Here's the finished canvas- compensating the green background was the challenge! Here we are in pre-op. the last step is to cut out the center of the white circle on the right to make space for the candle. Tomorrow is the big day - need to rest up! Have a great week! Split the Needles: November 2014
http://splittheneedles.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 25, 2014. I've been home all day with the painter. I sort of felt like Murphy Brown when I ate lunch and he was painting in the kitchen. I always complain that I never get to stay home and do what I want alone WITHOUT Emily (who is at camp today being Tuesday), so why does it feel so weird? So I have cybershopped, cleaned out closets and done some needlepoint. What I really want to do is GET OUT OF THE HOUSE! What I really NEED TO DO is FINISH EVAN'S SCARF! Or DO MY CHRISTMAS CARDS!

Split the Needles: Blingy Background
http://splittheneedles.blogspot.com/2015/07/blingy-background.html
Tuesday, July 7, 2015. There's a reason stitch guides usually tell you to start in on the background at the beginning! Because it usually takes the longest and once you get the pattern down it can get a little boring. But.I'm almost done! No, I did not like laying 2 threads (one of which is accentuate) in a diagonal pattern and no I did not like working with crystal braid (until I used a larger needle) but look at the effect. Perfect! Have a great week,. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Ok, This Is Sad.

Split the Needles: July 2014

Friday, July 25, 2014. Here's the inspiration for the kite flying girls.see the butterfly kites in the lower right corner? And here are my girls. With their kites. The kites are outlined in Tinore thread which is wire wrapped in gold. And the strings are in the same thread. It's nice because its so thin and pliable but I'm not sure it's available anymore. And the little girls in the middle. And now I go back to the Valentine Basket to rest my eyes for a while. You will be seeing lots of pink! They look a ...

Monday, September 15, 2014. It's not that often that I complete ALL the canvases in a series. I almost always run out of steam with a few to go. Thank goodness there were only 9 firecrackers- that may have made the difference here. I left the hardest (for me) for last naturally. The bunting cracker. Here's the bunting all done.
