There have been boat crashes at the Shootout before, but nothing as spectacular as this one of the catamaran "OuterLimits" driven by Joel Begin and Mike Fiore. Mike Fiore, the owner of Outerlimits died on Tuesday August 26th, 2014 due to complications after surgery for his injuries. This is the first death from an accident at the Shootout since it began. Anything About Everything That Floats. Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Being interested in all forms of hydro-propulsion, I'm surprised it took this long for someone to emulate the cuttlefish. The propulsion has merit from a maneuverability point of view, as clearly demonstrated, but for primary thrust it's easy to see it's not very powerful. There seems to be room for improvement, namely in the membrane performance, but it is fairly graceful for a clunky looking machine.
