Food & Thoughts: March 2009

http://foodandthoughts.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Wants 'happy' back in the kitchen. Saturday, March 28, 2009. New book and reading it within three days (I had to go to work in between. Otherwise I'd have devoured it much faster). Having dinner with friends who reveals they're getting married, and squealing with delight at the thought. Having breakfast in bed at 10.30 am - scrambled eggs, whole grain bread, cream cheese and Bayonne ham. Making bread form scratch on a weekly basis. Me Meme. MeMe. Me. Saturday, March 21, 2009. Just a tiny bit? Another fan...

Food & Thoughts: April 2010

Wants 'happy' back in the kitchen. Thursday, April 22, 2010. How to Celebrate with Chocolate Cake(s). Pistachio Petit Four Cake - for my 31st. birthday. It seems like it was just yesterday M drove me to the hospital, one early morning. We thought we were just going for a scheduled check-up - but then again, some sort of something had started during the night, and I wasn't quite sure, is this contractions and am I? Mile-High Devil's Food Cake - for the Maternity Group. At one point, I got back to thinking...

Food & Thoughts: September 2010

http://foodandthoughts.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Wants 'happy' back in the kitchen. Thursday, September 2, 2010. I have eleven (11! But they are not the only thing growing in this house. When I got pregnant, I promised myself I wasn't going to turn this into a mommy-blog. I like being a mom - I may even go so far as to say I love being a mom. I like reading about other people being mom's. I just thought no, this is a FOOD blog, my food blog. Not a baby blog. Is it at the right time of the day? Is he tired now? Why won't he sleep? He's crawling. He'...

Food & Thoughts: August 2010

http://foodandthoughts.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Wants 'happy' back in the kitchen. Saturday, August 28, 2010. Cupcakes and Blogs, with or without a reason. I wish I had more time. And if it isn't different, why bother? I wish I didn't feel like I had to make an excuse everytime I actually do put up a post. I wish it didn't bother me so much to have to type out recipes. This is a food blog - it kind of goes with the concept. I wish I didn't feel like I'm sometimes holding on to something that's already dead. And I think a lot about food. Still. Rhubarb...

Food & Thoughts: Penance, with Rice Pudding

http://foodandthoughts.blogspot.com/2015/04/penance-with-rice-pudding.html

Wants 'happy' back in the kitchen. Sunday, April 26, 2015. Penance, with Rice Pudding. It can be all sorts of stuff. 'No, we can't go to the café AGAIN today'. 'Charlie, for the 100TH TIME! PUT ON YOUR CLOTHES so we can get out the door! The CD's don't belong on the floor, do they? No More. iPad. I'm serious.' 'Eat your vegetables.' 'No, we're not reading the third chapter of the book that you did not even WANT to read.' 'Go to sleep! Go ahead and call the social services. Most of the time, I think I'm a...

The Irreverent Cook: May 2009

http://theirreverentcook.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 27, 2009. May Daring Baker's Challenge. It would seems that, when it comes to strudels, Singaporeans have been living in an alternate universe. All my life, thanks to Ritz Apple Strudel, I've believed that strudels looked like this:. So imagine my surprise when May rolled around, the challenge was revealed, and everyone in the Daring Baker community [and beyond] told me that strudels actually looked like this:. The May Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Linda of make life sweeter!

Tippets Tales: August 2008

http://tippetstales.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

A way to keep in touch with those we love. Thursday, August 14, 2008. A peek at Montrose. I was recently told, "real trucks aren't bought, they're built." This must be the land of "real" trucks! Here's Main St. at rush hour in Montrose. Montrose people like everything in doubles. A double-lane McDonald drive-thru,. And "doubley" tall deer (the deer in the NE and Florida are as big as Coloradan rabbits)! Some of the most beautiful front yards aren't the ones that are professionally landscaped. Believe it ...

My Belly Dictates: October 2007

http://bellydictates.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Following the growls of my ever-hungry belly in Southern England. Monday, 8 October 2007. We went to Coco Rio on a gamble. Having walked past it once - it is in a back block behind the main stretch of shops on Bedford place, and in what seems to be a carpark - and noted its "African/Latino" tag, we thought it was a restaurant worth trying. And it certainly is. For starters, we all shared some grilled haloumi on a spicy pineapple salsa, which reminded me greatly of a favourite Vietnamese dish, char-grille...

Tippets Tales: July 2008

http://tippetstales.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

A way to keep in touch with those we love. Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Celebrating the 4th of July. We hope each of you had a wonderful 4th. Bummer for us, Derren wasn't able to celebrate with us. He was in Colorado looking for for our new house. The good news is he found one, and we should be able to fit in it! We're all very grateful this should be the last of Dad's solo trips for a long while. The parade was fun. Alyssa's favorite part of the parade was the Mummers. Josalyn liked the candy that was thrown.

Feed Your Kids: April 2006

http://feedyourkids.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html

Getting my boys to eat, sometimes its a chore, other times it's the easiest thing in the world. Everytime I cook with them I learn something new. Tuesday, April 25, 2006. Since we are on an egg theme (hey, it's springtime). Here we go with another egg story. As I have mentioned earlier Cub has been intrigued by the idea of Sunny-Side up eggs. He tried some at the Waffle House, but he wasn't too excited about it. Cub was ready, he had buttered toast, a pile of cheese grits, and an empty space for an egg.

A way to keep in touch with those we love. Tuesday, December 23, 2008. Josalyn and Levi Celebrating Levi's First Birthday (May). Alyssa's First Loose Tooth. Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, ring-ting ting-a-ling too. It seems like lovely weather to write a Christmas letter to you! The kids have been reminding me (since 6:30 this morning) tomorrow is Christmas Eve, which means, it’s past time for me to write our Christmas letter. Please forgive my tardiness. Josalyn (4), loves life! The History of t...

I know, I know . it's been a long time since I last posted . What excuse do I have? None slackness . evil wow. But on to other things. So, I decided to take advantage of being the one that picked them and tried one right there behind the bush, in the sun. The heat of the day just starting to build up. Food and Thought Bites Back

Wednesday, September 1, 2010. Quote by Abraham Lincoln. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.
