We make our soups, sandwiches, scones, muffins, and pies by hand, using the freshest ingredients, most of which are organic and produced in California, if not in the Bay Area. We believe in supporting sustainable, local agriculture and local businesses as much as possible. As cliche as this may seem these days, this principle is rooted in the work done at Food First. Our produce and fruit comes from San Francisco’s Veritable Vegetable. San Francisco’s finest confectioner of exquisite chocolates. Of Santa...

HOME GROWN ALBERTA: Is industrial agriculture here to stay?
http://abhomegrown.blogspot.com/2008/06/is-industrial-agriculture-here-to-stay.html
Ruminations on food and social change. Wednesday, June 25, 2008. Is industrial agriculture here to stay? For those who can afford it, there will always be a place for the artisanal farmer, who harks back to a mythologised rural British past and whose touchy-feely methods are as much about marketing as agriculture. Ruminations on food and social change. Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Local Food at Calgary Stampede. Posted by Local Grrrl. It is without much thought that many Stampeders chow down corn dogs and mini donuts that have little to do with agricultural history in Alberta (at least I think). Perhaps fried prairie oysters would be more appropriate! Carrottop;) (which is actually a misnomer as it is carrot bottoms that are orange). June 24, 2008. July 02, 2008. Côté cuisine, côté jardin: Derniers jours pour les asperges
http://cotecuisinecotejardin.blogspot.com/2012/06/derniers-jours-pour-les-asperges.html
Côté cuisine, côté jardin. Sous l'arbre à palabres. Jeudi 21 juin 2012.

Nov 18, 2010. An Intellectual History of Cannibalism. An Intellectual History of Cannibalism. A book by the Romanian researcher Cătălin Avramescu has been recently translated into English. Quoted from Open Democracy. The whole article here: Europe and its Cannibals. With Cătălin Avramescu in Cabinet Magazine is worth a while as well. One thing that is very striking in early authors such as Hans Staden—whose book featured perhaps the most famous sixteenth-century woodcuts of cannibalistic feastsR...
