Food, football and figures: February 2009

Food, football and figures. A BLOG ABOUT EATING OUT, COOKING AT HOME AND OCCASIONALLY GOING TO CHELSEA GAMES. Tuesday, 24 February 2009. We bought some lovely chorizo. In Borough Market a couple of weeks ago, and it was calling out to me from the fridge. I was feeling pretty uninspired as to what to do with it though. There were just the two of us, and most of the recipes I usually do are much bigger, like Delia's Chicken Basque. I decided to do something involving the chorizo. Of chopped tomatoes, some ...

Food, football and figures. A BLOG ABOUT EATING OUT, COOKING AT HOME AND OCCASIONALLY GOING TO CHELSEA GAMES. Thursday, 16 July 2009. I have finally felt like cooking again, although still not eating much. I ordered loads of stuff from Riverford. This week. We haven't had a box for ages as R couldn't get through it on his own! One of the things I ordered was a large bag of basil, to make pesto with. This is so easy with a Magimix. And tastes so much better than the bought stuff. 6 cloves of garlic. I hop...

Food, football and figures. A BLOG ABOUT EATING OUT, COOKING AT HOME AND OCCASIONALLY GOING TO CHELSEA GAMES. Tuesday, 22 December 2009. I put myself in charge of the fudge and truffles this year, and although there were some moments when I regretted it due to timing issues, the results were definitely worth it. 200g gluten-free flour (I used Doves). 4 tbsp cold water. Large tin condensed milk. 1 tsp vanilla extract. On a sugar thermometer), stirring regularly and scraping down the sides. Once it has...

Food Foolish
Http:/ www.amazon.com/dp/B011QAD9RS - Order Now -. It is imperative that we raise awareness of the social, environmental and economic impact of food waste. It is a critical action that as individuals, countries and the world community we can take to improve the lives of people, combat climate change and help protect and restore our oceans. In my career, I’ve studied the confluence of food systems, human economies and health. While debate still nags for the definition of sustainability, I believe that...

Food, football and figures
Food, football and figures. A BLOG ABOUT EATING OUT, COOKING AT HOME AND OCCASIONALLY GOING TO CHELSEA GAMES. Monday, 4 January 2010. While doing the Christmas baking I ended up with spare pastry and frangipane. Normally at this time of year I would make mini mincemeat tarts, but I had run out of mincemeat too, and given the snowy weather I didn. 8217;t fancy going out to get any. I therefore decided to put jam in the instead, thereby turning them into Bakewell. These were so good that R wouldn. Put the ...

Matbokh wa Mataam Dimashki, Jaramana, Damascus. Just off the main street in Jaramana (maybe 50 metres from the Hafez al-Assad roundabout), an unassuming ‘kitchen and restaurant’ serving excellent Syrian / Arab food. Which I expect would have been good too. The food was not imaginative, but just very well done. Worst of all was...
