Archive of ‘Bread’ category. Truffle and potato pizzette. People are passionate about double carbs, and I protect my right to them fiercely more than ever when every other wellness blogger is telling us to give up precious pasta and replace everything with courgette noodles. Double carbs must not be forgotten. Indians are excellent at double carbs, and so are the Italians – you’ve only got to look at pasta alla genovese for that, but there’s also pizza! Pink Praline & Cardamom Buns. I’m having a go...

Soffrito Ragu – Vegetarian Ragu Recipe | Food Mela
http://foodmela.co.uk/soffrito-ragu
Soffrito Ragu – Vegetarian Ragu Recipe. Doesn’t this look like the real deal? I’ve become slightly obsessed, since the Mr became a vegetarian, at recreating the perfect ragu without meat. Lentils are nice but often to floury and strong in flavour, I’ve tried mushrooms before which are close, but nothing has come as close as this simple vegetable ragu. (Don’t even talk to me about soya mince). Hope you love this recipe, it’s the closest I’ve got! Also works very well as a lasagne sauce, I’d recommen...

Archive of ‘Cake’ category. Pistachio, almond & honey cakes. I’ve been in a bit of baking rut recently, I think it is okay to admit this. I’ve made a strangely savoury batch of granola bars, and a stranger tray of baked oatmeal that was akin to an oaty omelette. There was a brownie failure which actually turned into some pretty good molten chocolate puddings, but not brownies. I did manage to pull off a tasty rhubarb cake for cake club. Last month, but it was a stressful experience! Orange and almond cake.

Saturday, 8 February 2014. Aloo Tikki Style Celeriac Cakes - Using Up Sunday Leftovers. Following on from my last post about a Baked Celeriac Sunday roast. Here is a quick recipe for using up the leftovers! I had about 1/4 of celeriac left so I combined this with some mashed potato (if you have roast potatoes left these work too) and lots of spices to create an aloo tikki style cake, which made for a simple Monday dinner. Spicy Celeriac and Potato Cakes. Makes 4, enough for 2. 1 clove of garlic. Mix and ...

Friday, 11 October 2013. You can always trust Deb at the Smitten Kitchen to make things right - I always have faith in her vegetarian mains as she used to be a vegetarian herself. This mushroom lasagne recipe of hers will make for one very happy vegetarian, and one happy meat-eater who misses making a big pan of lasagne. It is cheesey, substantial and feels like a proper lasagne. I bought some fantastic fresh egg lasagne sheets from Natoora. Find the recipe on Deb's blog here. Posted by Deepa Mistry.

Dinner with Capsicana cook sauces [review]. I’ve long been a fan of Capsicana. Their dried chillies are perfect for making homemade masala. And for adding to my favourite Mexican food. Following his fantastic rebrand (love it) Ben got in touch to offer his new Latin-inspired cook sauces for review, which I’ve been experimenting with for the last few weeks. (more…). Food AND THE City
Food AND THE City. Wednesday, 5 October 2011. Bistec Encebollado – Steak and Onions. This is a spectacularly easy to prepare and nourishing one pot recipe. Perfect for the autumn nights ahead of us. A beef and onion casserole is easily transformed into something far more exciting with a quick- Puerto Rican inspired - sprinkling of spices. The cut of steak used is entirely your choice. Though I prefer to use a cheaper cut for this dish such as a shoulder steak. This recipe calls for ' Sazon' seasoning.
