Foodsnob In LA: July 2008

http://foodsnobinla.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 31, 2008. All I see is RED ESPRESSO. So when I was in South Africa summer of 2006 I became addicted to rooibos. In particular, there is one brand of rooibos which really stood out as having the cleanest, most complex flavor. Named the best new product of South Africa in 2006, this stuff is available NOW at Whole Foods. Get a bag and tell me you don't love it! And the best part of it is, it naturally contains NO CAFFEINE. Can you believe it? Wish you could have a sip. Oh wait, you CAN!

Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Top 11 Foods: Pumpkin Seeds. The only time I think about pumpkin is during Thanksgiving, but ever since reading that article. I've been obsessing about, all I can think about is pumpkin, since it made the list TWICE. Once as plain old pumpkin, and again as pumpkin seed! So, it must be good for you, right? I mean, it was published in the NY Times, so it must be true. Here's how I make granola:. 1/2 cup crushed raw almonds. 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds. 1/3 cup canola oil. And not only d...

Foodsnob In LA: November 2007

http://foodsnobinla.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 27, 2007. I made a cake from 71% Valrhona chocolate. It was labor intensive. Here are some pics. Wish you could have a room temperature bite with some port,. Monday, November 26, 2007. Soup for the Soul. What do you do with a turkey carcass, 5 lbs of carrots, and fresh herbs? Duh, turkey soup. The great thing about roasting the turkey is that half the work is done for you, so it's just up to you not to f&#% it up! But by then my stock is perfect. Wish you could have a sip,. I know I did!

Sunday, August 09, 2009. That Freshly Baked Bread Smell. Here's my once every 5 months blog entry. It's not very exciting. Sorry. So, I had one of those cravings, and since it's been hot in Los Angeles lately, I decided to heat things up another 500 degrees. If I'm gonna spend all this time making bread, might as well make 2 loaves, right? Just try to let the bread cool down for 2 hours before you cut into it. Wish you could have a bite,. Foodsnob In LA: November 2010

http://foodsnobinla.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 09, 2010. So, I just can't stand how pathetic my blog has become. ONE entry all year long? And only SEVEN last year? I must admit I have a new passion- it's gardening, and it's taken over my life. I'm going to phase out (yeah, no sh*t) this blog and start another one on gardening. We'll see if I actually follow through! Thanks everyone for humoring me. Hope you enjoyed FoodsnobInLA and trust me- my snobbery just got a hell of a lot worse since now I'm GROWING my own food!

Q Friction: Making Friends with Icy Folks

http://qfriction.blogspot.com/2008/09/making-friends-with-icy-folks.html

Monday, September 1, 2008. Making Friends with Icy Folks. I said to him, "You know, more people need to think like you. We take things for granted, like warm weather and the ability to walk, and here you are, all cool and collect with only pine cones for eyes.". We continued to hold arms until my dog snatched a pine cone from his face. It was fun while it lasted, but at least I know that I will live each day being grateful for having a healthy body and a healthy soul. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Q Friction: November 2007

http://qfriction.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

Friday, November 9, 2007. So I just got back from spending 5 weeks in McGregor, Iowa. They have this amazing store called River Junction. Which rocks. It reminded me of my days growing up on the ranch in Asia, where I was responsible for herding the sheep and collecting eggs. Boy those chickens are feisty! Don't cross an angry hen! I ordered this incredible hat.it cost me a whole day's work, but I'm telling you it'll be worth it when National Asian Cowgirl Day rolls around next month. Love it.

Q Friction: Volterra, Land of Volts

http://qfriction.blogspot.com/2008/10/volterra-land-of-volts.html

Tuesday, October 14, 2008. Volterra, Land of Volts. I initially had a difficult time navigating through the Tuscan landscape because the beauty was blinding me, but of course my awesome sunglasses polarized the hell out of those olive trees. Phew. Close call! Here I am in Volterra on my way to the Yacht Club, as it would appear from my sweater tied around my shoulders look. However, nothing brings an outfit together quite like my frames. Oh how I love them. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

jen messes with texas: September 2006

Jen messes with texas. A chronicle of miscellaneous adventures in my new home of austin, texas (a.k.a. the other side of the world). "don't mess with texas? Thursday, September 28, 2006. I'm at a place called vertigo! Apparently, when you take one dazed and confused traveler, throw her on the road for a wk and make her sit in a windowless conference on a rocking cruise ship for hours on end, you end up with some serious vertigo. If it didn't suck so badly, it would be kinda funny. Austin feels very safe&...

Monday, October 26, 2009. MUSHROOM - INFUSED SAUSAGE RAGU. I tossed this luscious ragu with al dente orecchiette pasta but I think it would pair nicely with creamy polenta as well. Some other uses may include empanadas, caneloni, lasagna, ravioli or gnocchi. This recipe will also work beautifully with a turkey sausage substitute. Buon appetito! SERVES 6 - 8. 35 lbs sweet italian sausage, casings removed. 1 carrot, finely chopped. 1 onion, finely chopped. 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped. 1 dried bay leaf.
