Foraging Through Life: April 2014
http://foragingthroughlife.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Things I find worthy of note. Friday, April 11, 2014. What should I be doing to manage my bees? Flip hives, like any good BBC drama, it's time for upstairs to become downstairs, clean off the bottom boards of all the dead bees, debris, and bits of uncapping wax. It always makes me a bit nervous as this is the time of the year where starving can occur. I prefer when the overwintered hive is in the top box and I can see them when I open the lid. Now they are moved to the bottom to allow for brood rearing.

Pretty in Pink: December 2008
http://prettynpink41.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 16, 2008. Good news is sometimes not as good as you think. Today we hit 3 months on the adoption list and thought, about a week ago, that life was just merrily going along our own way. Then, we got an e-mail that Annie wanted to talk about a matching. We went nuts! Someone was actually looking at us? Questions immediately sprung up:. Kelly: How far along is she? Has she been taking prenatal vitamins? Is she having a boy or a girl? Where is she from? Is the baby ok? Posted by Kelly N.

Sunday, April 13, 2008. All good things must come to an end. As Gary and I were wandering around the landing a week ago, we noticed that our favorite new establishment, Piztros, was dark. Was it a power failure? No, the restaurant has shut down! Well, as we all know, usually with the bad, something good must come out of it. As Susie, the kids and I were shoe shopping yesterday, looking for brown sandals, bought some X-appeal sneakers instead (My students will love me! Posted by Kelly N. View my complete ...

Sheri and Jamye Thank you for being there daily to cheer each other on, for understanding our stuggles and continuously praying for God to work in all of our lives for the better. Pretty in Pink: July 2008

Friday, July 18, 2008. Picture Book Suggestion: Punk Farm. So, thinking of Alana. And the boys (actually R and the hilarious head/login incident made me clear this was a book for them), here is my first entry:. Punk Farm on Tour. These farm animals are soooo rockin' that they even have their own website. I can just picture "T" doing the air guitar! So, in the immortal words of Punk Farm, "You Rock Colorado! Posted by Kelly N. Pretty in Pink: September 2008

Saturday, September 27, 2008. So now that we are on the official Caucasian Infant Waiting List or CIWL. As I will refer to it, our social worker says we should start buying baby things as we never know when we will be getting THE CALL. Gary thinks this means buying all the toys his mom never let him play with because the pieces just might get sucked up in the dreaded vacuum. That means Lego's. Tinker toys, K- Nex. Etc I think our priorities are slightly eschewed. I have absolutely no clue, help! First, I...
Pretty in Pink: Fudgesicle Lemonhead
http://prettynpink41.blogspot.com/2008/10/fudgesicle-lemonhead.html
Saturday, October 4, 2008. Last fall, I had the chance to sit in on a workshop with one of my favorite children's poets, Rebecca Kai Dotlich. In one of my all-time favorite cities, Manhattan. Rebecca talked about how she came up with some of her poems by randomly selecting words she really likes and putting them together. I love writing poetry and often find myself writing them in my head as I make the long morning commute to school. Sugar rush, ears red. Tongue biting, sour pucker. Posted by Kelly N.

Pretty in Pink: A poem for headache sufferers like me

Sunday, November 16, 2008. A poem for headache sufferers like me. Mirror, Mirror, on the wall. I hate headaches, one and all. Sinus, tension, migraines, too,. They all leave me feeling blue. Weekends should be headache free,. Time for God, family, and me. If your medicine leaves you out of luck,. Do as I do, and find a Starbucks! That is the only thing headaches do for me, they leave me inspired to write:). Posted by Kelly N. December 3, 2008 at 6:20 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Pretty in Pink: Reconstructing Kelly
http://prettynpink41.blogspot.com/2010/06/reconstructing-kelly.html
Wednesday, June 9, 2010. I have been horrid about blogging. I need to though because not that many people know I have a blog, so I can just get my feelings out. This morning, I read a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt that goes like this, "Friendship with oneself is all-important, because without it one cannot be friends with anyone else.". Hmmmmmakes you think. Made me think, "Am I being a good friend to myself? Am I helping myself get healthy? Not really. Why can I cheer other people on but not myself? Lover ...

Seeking, cracking, and sharing a Fancy Forage of Nuttery. The Reign of God Through My Grandmother. January 22, 2015. Reading time 2 minutes. The day before my Grandmother passed away I came to see her for the last time. The watch had gone on for days, frail and small she lay bravely waiting as death took its time. Optimal Foraging Theory
This is a collection of some of my dinners. The idea was to collect them so I could become some self inspiration in difficult days, now I just want to share it with you. Bait for R´s. Bait for R´s. Bacon-Melon Omelette and Wine-champignons. Roast the bacon until the fat begins to render. Then turn off the fire and add the melon slices. They will caramelize together. This mixture is a flavour enhancement. Bait for R´s. One of my favorites. The Salmon should be raw in thin slices, just like Serrano hams.

Foraging Through Life
Things I find worthy of note. Saturday, August 15, 2015. This cat is out all day, could care less about people until you need to do work and then you get a big load of this. Saturday, August 15, 2015. Labels: Cat little kitty. I visited my friend Annie and as I was leaving from an afternoon glass of wine, I stopped to see this lone sunflower. It was growing out of the tiny space between her sidewalk and home. Strong and stout, this flower had no doubt it was going to survive. Saturday, August 15, 2015.

Foraging with Katherine | Inspiration for Creating Elegance on a Budget
Here I am in the hospital. Sorry to disappoint.I haven't posted for awhile because I have been ill. Actually I have ovarian cancer. Cancer now strikes 1 in 2 men, and 1 in 2.6 women - that's outrageous! Of course, I have no health insurance, so my brother has organized a fundraiser to help pay for medical costs. If you feel inspired to give, there is a Give Now button on the right. All donations will be GREATLY appreciated! I'll be posting about my time at the hospital, so stay tuned! Links to this post.
Foraging Woman | how to find and use what nature provides
How to find and use what nature provides. All Figs Are Not Created Equal. November 29, 2009. Here is my Thanksgiving Appetizer: Chewy Figs and Cheese. In October, I gathered bushels of ripe figs from wild trees along a Central Valley road (California). I sliced them in half, dehydrated them to a chewy stage, and stored them in plastic bags in my freezer. Since they weren’t bone-dry I didn’t want to risk losing them to mold. Four Necessities to Harvest Black Walnuts. November 29, 2009. I was at a farm fes...
For A Girl, By A Girl
Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Valentine's Day (or Single Awareness Day to some of you). Simply a commercialized holiday to make the singles out there envious of those who have special plans for their partners. More with this statement. Valentine's Day. It doesn't have. To be with a partner. You don't have. To hate it just because you're single (and fabulous! Valentine. As cheesy as it sounds, you should always love yourself above others. I was late for class, getting ready for school, but it was so. It's u...
