In November 1998, my dad's 1966 Econoline pickup was getting a little old. A 3 speed with the 170ci six cylinder and no A/C in the Florida summers was not cutting it anymore. So a trip to our local Ford dealer Thanksgiving weekend just to browse, and they had the perfect truck: 1997 F-350 4x4 crew cab Powerstroke diesel. With 21k on the odometer it wasn't even broken in yet. For the Sterling 10.25 rear axle.

Well here is my 1994 Sonoma SLS pickup. My brother bought this to use the body to update his boxy style S10 on his mud truck. He then couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy an extended cab pickup. My 1978 Ford E-150 four wheel drive project. Ok so this is how the van looks right now (Jan '06) and will for a little bit longer until I get the F-150 finished. The truck will be my daily driver so I can work on the van. Right now the van has a warmed over 351w and the factory Toploader 3spd OD. This page and project will pick up where the '77 F-150 left off. As cool as the F-150 would have been, it was still only a 2wd long bed. After doing all of the bodywork for the 2wd, it just seemed a waste to not put it on the 4wd chassis. Finally, after 10 years of storage, the truck was rolled to the front of the shop where the bed, cab and front clip were removed. The engine was trash as water got in the block since the cylinder heads were removed several years prior (we never planned on rebuilding...

Above is what the truck looked like upon bringing it home. This truck is the Lariat for its time. It is the Ranger XLT package and has A/C, cruise, and lots of trim. Notice the rare RaceTrak trim option. The drivetrain is the neat 460 V8 to a C6 automatic and then the 31 spline 2.75:1 9 axle.
