8 miles, 3400'. Black Combe is a tough race for its distance, with a long second climb and usually quite a lot of late winter weather. Registration is in Silecroft village hall from 10am and the start is at midday in a field nearby. Entry is 7 on the day and includes pie and peas. One day I will get round to organising a barrel of beer too. There's a checkpoint map on the right. 6 miles, 1800'. The Caw race is a quiet evening out-and-back. It starts at 7.15pm from the Blacksmiths. 5 miles, 1800'.

These are the 2016 championship races. Scores for 2016. Will be kept fairly up to date. Results from 2015. Are in the archive. 12pm on 21 May at Buttermere Village. Causey Pike will sort you all out". Howtown Fell Race (L). 11am on 12 June at Howtown. Langstrath Fell Race (S). 07:15pm on 22 June at Langstrath Hotel. Stonethwaite, Borrowdale, CA12 5XG. Wasdale Fell Race (L). 11am on 09 July at Brackenclose campsite. 01pm on 17 July at Kentmere. Lakeland Country Fair (M). 02:30pm on 21 August at Torver.

Black Combe Runners is a small friendly running club based mainly in the Millom and Broughton areas of South Cumbria. Its members participate in fell-running and road running and new runners are welcome to try out our social runs. We organise the following fell races:. Black Combe Fell Race. In the winter, to help with winter training, a winter training league is organised where club members take part in a series of road/fell/cross country events on a handicapped basis.

The club has a different social run every week. In the summer they're always on the fells. In the winter there are more hilly road runs, but we'll still take any excuse (if it's a full moon, or nice weather, or interestingly nasty weather) to go up on the fells instead. We usually run 6 or 7 miles at an easy pace with frequent regrouping.
