VirtualDub documentation: Processing - virtualdub.org

Proof that I had too much free time in college. There are a few areas of VirtualDub that are rougher than they should be. The least I can do is document it. How do I crop a video? VirtualDub allows you to crop at the beginning of any video filter; you can do it by clicking on a video filter and then cropping. This option is called clipping in versions prior to 1.4. If you don't have any video filters you want to run, add a null transform filter and then add cropping to that. Indicates a dropped frame, wh...

Proof that I had too much free time in college. VirtualDub has the capability to load third-party DLLs that include their own video filters. The filters that are built into VirtualDub use the same interface that is exported to DLLs, so you can write filters similar to or better than the included ones. You can sample some of these at the third-party filters page. Requirements for the Plugin SDK:. VirtualDub 1.4.12 or newer (VirtualDub 1.8.8 recommended). The Plugin SDK supercedes the old Filter SDK, which...

VirtualDub documentation: crashes - virtualdub.org
http://www.virtualdub.org/docs_crashes.html
Proof that I had too much free time in college. Listed below are a few common VirtualDub crashes that are related to third-party drivers. If you get a crash in VirtualDub, one of the entries below may help you track down the problem. The symbol containing EIP will appear as the top entry in the estimated call stack, in the form of dll name. If the top entry contains only a name rather than a DLL name and an export name, it's probably a crash in VirtualDub itself and you should reference the Knowledge Base.

If you copy material from here, I'd appreciate an attribution; I tend to type these things at obscene hours in the morning and it's nice for others to know who wrote it. There's some overlap with the FAQ, but I hope to eliminate the latter soon. Suggestions are also very welcome. You know where to send them. Capturing video with VirtualDub (HTML). Processing video with VirtualDub (HTML). Getting the frameserver to work (HTML). Help with codecs (HTML).
