Fossil Food

Saturday, January 9, 2010. A great story was recently published about the oldest ever walking animal footprints. But the reports thus far have missed out on the most. Important part of the story: this was the first-ever MEAT. When I say meat, I exclude seafood, in the Catholic tradition. This is a surprisingly tough question to answer, because at least in the West, we don't regularly consume any animals like these. It would have been amphibian-like in its basic biology (so we could think frog),. I made s...

Fossil Food: May 2009

http://fossilfood.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, May 28, 2009. Tomorrow I leave for the summer, so I decided to make Montana a nice dinner as both her birthday and the anniversary of our first date take place in the next few weeks. The dinner menu is pasted to the right. The third course was taken from Richard Olney's excellent Simple French Cooking. The second course, though, is where I shined. Here's a full recipe (my own creation, borrowed from experience), and a photo:. 6-8 large deep sea scallops. 1 vidalia or other sweet onion. Slice th...

Fossil Food: August 2009

http://fossilfood.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 13, 2009. Cochon Restaurant, pseudo-reviewed. I recently had an amazing dinner at Cochon Restaurant. Known for "Cajun Southern Cooking. Simply labeled as chocolate and chickory custard with whipped cream. It would be easy to expect little from the dessert, especially when it arrived in an unassuming Mason jar. Maybe the presentation could be altered, but it would come at the expense of the surprising intensity of what lays within the jar. This is the kind of dessert experience that makes...

Fossil Food: Po' Boys for a Po' Boy - The Saga Continues

http://fossilfood.blogspot.com/2009/08/po-boys-for-po-boy-saga-continues.html

Wednesday, August 12, 2009. Po' Boys for a Po' Boy - The Saga Continues. I've posted previously about adventures with the po-boy. Today I continued my journey, by hitting up a local joint in the CBD (Central Business District). The sandwich was standard fare, in my opinion. Nothing special, but better than Court Tavern's. On a side note, the red beans and rice were bland to the point of being inedible - luckily hot sauce was on the table. Also, to give another shout-out to Gumbo Tales.

We wanted to use these beads because we wanted to honor the old tradition but give it a new vision. Murnao as a island and industry has many challenges, but I thought this was good advice for bridging Murano’s rich history while meeting the needs of modern marketplace, where tastes have changed greatly since the 1950’s. The Fossil Folly – Dedicated to illustrating and solving mankind's fossil addiction!

Dedicated to illustrating and solving mankind's fossil addiction! Dig a hole. Extract fossil fuel. Transport it to distant power plant that is 30-45% efficient. Burn it to heat steam over 1600 degrees to spin a turbine to spin a generator to send electricity hundreds or even thousands of miles to an inefficient box on a roof that cools the room by 10-20 degrees. Use what’s left to run lights (usually) during the day or appliances when nobody’s around. Simply brilliant! Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
