I have noticed that by not putting pressure on her to get schoolwork done, she is coming around to being more like the child I knew before she went to kindergarten, only now she is more mature and capable of so many amazing things! Poetry, carpentry, swimming, reading, tobogganing, shovelling snow, baking, dancing, playing piano… These are the things we’ve been doing since I last wrote! Honest, we have been busy! In addition to the learning she is doing that relates to our renovation, she picks up books at any time of day and reads straight through them! They don’t know how to turn off their brains. The learning happens all the time.

I am concerned about this because I know that she has a very analytical mind and is quite intelligent. It doesn’t make sense that she would hate math. I picked up this workbook because it was colourful and cute and seemed to ease in to the grade two level pretty well. We’ve done two pages and she’s willing to do more! The month of July is not usually juxtaposed with the words “learning” or “school,” yet here we are, excited about learning a whole bunch of new things on the long, hot days of summer.
