Our lambs are both throughout the year, on pasture in the warmer months. They eat grass in the summer and hay in the winter, with some whole barley and green peas to finish. They are guarded over by our three dogs, Curly, Heidi, and Jack, as well as two llamas who protect them from coyotes and stray dogs.

Our ducks are hatched in a colony in Southern Alberta and shipped to Four Whistle Farm as day-old chicks. They live in our warm barn for a few weeks until they are ready to go outdoors, where they have lots of room to roam around and play in the water and mud that they love.

During the warm season the chickens are free to run outside in the day. At night they sleep on straw in the barn, where they have ample room to move around comfortably. Our pigs are raised from piglets born on the farm or purchased from a Central Alberta farmer at 30 pounds. They eat barley, wheat, peas, grass, and hay, with a one percent mineral supplement. They live in a large corral outdoors year round, where they hide in bales of hay for warmth in the winter.
