RAY DOWN'S FRADU COLLECTION. Current estimated download time: 28 seconds. Lives in Somerset and used to work as a fitter on Hunters for Airwork at RNAS Yeovilton from 1972 to 1983. He has sent me these excellent photos of FRADU and other interesting aircraft to put on this site. Eight GA.11's parked on the RNAS Yeovilton apron. A line up of T.8C's in March 1981 at Yeovilton. Inside one of the FRADU hangars during 1981. An Avon 122 engine recently pulled from a Hunter T.8C. T8C WT799 on the ground at VLN.

GLYN PHILLIPS' FLIGHT IN A T.8C HUNTER. Current estimated download time: 32 seconds. Glyn Phillips is a former Royal Navy Medical Officer between 1981 and 1986. During 1981 just prior to a post on submarines, he was moved to HMS Heron. On two occasions he was lucky enough to experience flights in a FRADU T.8 Hunter, and during the second trip Glyn had his camera with him in the cockpit. The Hawker-Siddeley (later British Aerospace) Hawk served with the Fleet Requirements and Air Direction Unit (FRADU) at both RNAS Yeovilton and RNAS Culdrose for close to twenty years until its withdrawal in June 2013. A type commonly associated with the Royal Air Force and its aerobatics team; the Red Arrows, its role and use within the Royal Navy, where it has provided sterling service without the loss of a single aeroplane, is often overlooked.
