De medepassagiers uit Centraal Azië waren in grote getale aanwezig; opgemaakt of in huispak/ trainingspak van de favoriete voetbalclub. We (de 7 andere klussers, de cameraman en ik) vliegen nog vier uur verder naar het oosten. Het tijdsverschil is een uur of 4 met Nederland dus bij de landing is het bijna 6 uur in de morgen. Tussen aankomst en vertrek. 30 september, 2006. Van de Orontes vallei naar de kust. Tartous, ongeveer 50 km ten noorden van Libanon, is de tweede havenstad van Syrie. Aan het einde van de boulevard geven grote borden een 'artist. Reizend langs de kust bezoek ik het kruisvaarderskasteel Qala'at Marqab, ga verder naar Latakia en bezoek Qala'at Salah ad-Din. Bij mijn vorige bezoek aan Latakia had ik gezegd terug te zijn in september en krijg bij. Wereld van 'Midden-Oosten reizigers'. De sfeer in de stad.
